Lorenz' Paradise

Named by the first settler on the planet, Lorenz’ Paradise quickly turned out to be a misnomer. The planet is affected by a temporal anomaly, with a climate that changes much faster than scientifically possible. What is a polar fjord one day may become a tropical beach in just the span of a few days. The first colonists on the planet thought they had arrived at paradise when suddenly what became known as a “C-Wave” swept over them, turning their newly planted crops useless.
Almost as worrying is the state of the planet’s flora and fauna, changing as swiftly as the planet does. What is one day a cuddly pet can be a ferocious ten meters tall monster the next, seemingly making the shift at no particular trigger.
Scientists have imagined cracking the mystery of the planet enabling quantum jumps in every science from terraforming to medicine to cosmetics, but so far they have had little luck. The only breakthroughs which has been accomplished is stabilizing antenna which can cause the C-waves to go around a particular area. These C-Wave-Breakers have allowed farms and ranches to sprout up on the planet, beginning the work of making Lorenz' Paradise live up to its name.
After recolonization began, the planet became the center of a large influx of Unity Church pilgrims, led by the prophet Jonathan Lorenz, great-grandson of the original Lorenz for whom the planet is named. These settlers have declared the planet their promised land and refuge. While they allow outsiders and non-believers to travel through and trade with them, they prefer staying by themselves.
