Péarlaí Korporatë (Pearl-Ah-ee KoPohr-Ateh)

When Godbert the explorer described Lake Eternal, he described it as "a godforsaken patch of land, unsuitable for the three legged, one eyed goat, belonging to an insignificant god. What should have been the jewel of our territory, the lake itself, is infected with so much algae that it is a stain on our otherwise opulent land."

When the first Water Folk settlers saw the area, they were hard pressed to disagree. With little opportunity presenting itself, the burgeoning village turned their attention to the lake. After clearing part of the lake, they discovered that nestled among the algae are large oysters. Most oysters had pearls. Within one cycle, the lake had been explored from one end to the other. The Water Folk knew exactly what to do with the fish found in the lake. They knew what to do with all of the algae. The pearls on the other hand left them baffled.

To evaluate the value of their cargo properly, a small delegation traveled to Middenweg to have it appraised. After a few evaluations, the consensus became clear: the only way they could make more money is if they were sitting on a goldmine. That is when Péarlaí Korporatë was born.

To keep control of Pearls Incorporate, it was decided that control had to be absolute. Plans were put into action to cultivate the oysters. As for the pearls, they were fashioned into intricate jewelry from rings and earrings to combs and necklaces. Even the shells were revitalized and sold. More often than not, at the markets where Pearls Inc. were sold, often servants could be seen buying decorated shells side by side with their masters who are buying pearls.
