Lushcastle (Luhsh-Kah-Suhl)

Some legends grow to such a degree that reality inevitably becomes a disappointment. That is true of the Lushcastle. The legend was created by the few southerners who traveled north through the arid desert and who have had the need of the Lushcastle. Upon their return, they regaled whoever was willing to listen, with grand tales of this astonishing building that saved their life. Words like majestic, grand, glorious and even holy have been used to describe the hospital and their treatment. They all swear that not only were they freed of the woe brought on by the harsh days in the desert, but also most other ill's some carried from childhood. None of these survivors ever compared stories. If they had, they would have realized instantly the major difference in their description of the Lushcastle.

The Shimoguyan who live in the Northern Wasteland, know the truth about the Lushcastle. Not only is the name Lush Castle a sign of their sense of humor since they understand that hospitals are a construct of the outlander and their need for comfort. This tradition started when they first rescued a traveler, not wanting to bring a stranger in their own homes, for fear of unknown maladies, rapidly erected an old tend, no longer viable as a residence. Within a short moment, the tent was raised, sparsely furnished with some carpets, a mattress topped with old cushions, one table with a carafe of water and glass and a second table that holds a handful of medical equipment and bandages. If the ill traveler brought an unknown disease that could not be cured, all could be burned down without disrupting the settlement.

The Shimoguyans have never needed a hospital made of brick and mortar to shelter the sick and infirm. Families take on that responsibility for their own. Every settlement have healers who can aid those in need. Only during the few skirmishes between clans would a separate tent would be used to attend the injured.

Not long after the first outlander appeared in the desert needing medical assistance, word of the necessity of a standalone tent or building spread rapidly throughout the land. This explains why every account of the Lushcastle differs in its descriptions.
