Armor Marine Iguana
These creatures do not differ from the standard Marine Iguana of the Earthside Galapagos Islands in the way you might expect. They share the same anatomy and morphology. A common behavior in the average marine iguana is a sort of sneeze that they use to remove salt from their sinuses, which is shared by this subspecies. However, on the rocky beaches of a marine iguana habitat, in small pools, the entire community will come together to shed the excess salt in and on their bodies in the same place. This creates incredibly high salinity pools of water that are cloudy with salt. When the sun rises high in the middle of the day, the water begins to dry, leaving a white paste that the hunting iguanas will roll in to coat themselves. This paste dries into a kind of salty armor. It protects them on dry land, as the thick layer of salt is too dense to be pierced by birds that would seek to hunt them, and though the armor mostly dissolves underwater, the salt makes them taste unappealing to predators who, upon tasting or smelling them, will likely turn away. These iguanas are otherwise the same as other marine iguanas.
