Aether, the essence of magic, flows through everything.
Some have the ability to control and channel this aether into spells, often using glyphs, symbols derived from the patterns of constellations.
Magic is an inextricable part of this world. But there is another world, a non-physical one: the astral plane or dream world. It has many names, but only a few very talented mages will ever be able to enter it. This world is where the memories and dreams of all of humanity are stored.
Monsters sometimes form out of aether - aggressive, destructive creatures, but ultimately not too difficult to kill. However, once, long ago, an evil spirit formed that was much more powerful ordinary monster. It was given the name Fenri, and a hero named Iliyan fought it in a great battle. The hero ultimately sealed the demon away.
Now, centuries later, the Fenri tries to claw its way to an escape.
A young mage in training, a lost and lonely person, a charismatic performer, and a young monster slayer get caught in the middle of an ancient battle and must find their own way through.
