United Democratic States

The country of the Fexians and is one of the founding members of the Assembly of Stars. While they have not desired to lead the galactic stage due to their militaristic tendency; they are passionate about their ideology. They're self-centertic governing style has assisted the fexian people greastly, but has hurt their relations with the other species.

Structure

When United Democratic States was founded from the original nation state a new structure was needed. While the homeland was a priority, the other regions became special districts managed by five governors selected through a voting process every five years. The other two are selected by the President-Marshall and were assigned agendas within the government itself. This was the Council of Seven. However, when they reached the intergalactic stage these governors became tasked with new regions of space.

Culture

The main philosophy of the Democratic States is to give the right to vote for their leaders and think freely. This right extends to all living things and thus should be given that right whether by force or not. They believe they are always right and especially when it comes to running a government and managing a war.

History

Pre-Unification:

During the early years of the fexian people there were many nation states with most of them under an authoritarian regime. For most of time, conflict was constant with people fighting to take over regions and territory. During the Industrial Revolution of the world a rebellion within Verdian region succeed creating the first democracy in the world called Verdian Democratic States. While at the time inconsequential, it would prove to be the most important event in their history.
In first few years the VDS aligned with the enemy of their enemy to remain independent. For a time, this worked. Many never saw them as a threat, but many also saw them as a resource to use against their enemies. It wouldn't be till the Battle of Gergba Woods where the VDS would crush all opposing forces and capturing the capital of the local nation. From this point on it could be them against the world.
By their Information Age, the VDS were a world superpower and dominated control over much of global politics. They would even have a joint space mission in 2082. However by the end of the century all remain nations had either surrendered to them or were actively fighting them to the death. World Unification day was set in the year of 2106 as the VDS had conquered the last remaining holdout. The VDS organized themselves into the UDS to unify the fexian people and switch their mindset from the world to the stars.

Era of Expansion

When space travel became safe enough to travel vast distances, the President-Marshall put a vast amount of resources into expanding into the beyond. Cerza Beva was one of the first to step up to the challenge, For her, she would discover many of the planets that were the first to be colonized.
During this time, they met many species, most not spacefaring. Interfering would be against their beliefs especially since they still had time to change their ways. The Nermgraia were the first to be exploring their system. The UDS in their wisdom decided to liberate them from their oppressive regime. This would result in conflict and war for severals years and some say lasting oppression.
When the UDS encountered the United Alliance of Earth and humanity, the UDS was initially quite frighten of them. They had yet to encounter another species to possibly match their strength. The two nations would bicker over planetary systems and it would all lead to The Azeban Conflict. This battle would be the first time the UDS would fight in such an equally matched battle. They would also meet the the Kessnar Assembly as a result of this battle.
When the battle concluded Tasinara diplomats intervened and the Conference of Galactic Powers was called. After weeks of fighting a human pollution by the name of Kythina Manos, made a speech of unity and peace which inspired on the sides of the conflict. The UDS would join forces with the humans and tasinara to create the Assembly of Stars.

Era of Diplomacy

The Assembly of Stars was an advancement of connections and relations between species, the expansionist attitude the UDS had held changed to a more warm and protective stance to other democratic nations. They became the enforcers of the galactic community within the Assembly. In most cases, the UDS was a great advocate of the federation until The Nermgraia Proposal which they saw as a targeted attack on their beliefs.
This proposal would divide the Assembly in two. If left unchecked it would have likely dissolve the federation, but Chancellor Manos worked diligently and as able to avert the crisis before anything could fall apart.
As of now, they have turned their focus to the threat of Quivica and the advancement of warfare technology.

Military

They have three military branches in the UDS: Democratic Ground Command, Tactical Intelligence Division, United Galactic Navy. With each of these branches is lead by a Marshall who take their orders from the President-Marshall .
Democratic Ground Command (DGC): The DGC is the military branch that deals with planetary warfare weather it is on the ground, in the air, or sea.
Tactical Intelligence Division (TID): The TID is the branch that deals with espionage, tactical support, technological advancement, and diplomacy
United Galactic Navy (UGN): The UGN is the branch that deals with space warfare and logistics.

Technological Level

The fexian people have always put a lot of resources into scientific discovery. It hasn't changed over the years either. As a result, they are considered superior technological compared to most of the other species known to them.

Foreign Relations

The UDS has had the weakest diplomatic corps compared to the main members of the Assembly of Stars. They mostly only deal with others if it benefits themselves, but when it does they are strong allies. As a result, they are very isolationist, but will not back down from conflict. Many seek their favor and most fail to win them over.
