Strengthen/Weaken Material Spell in Star Wars: Shards | World Anvil

Strengthen/Weaken Material

This is heavily inspired by the homebrew Force power of "Strengthen/Weaken Materials" from d6 holocron ( http://d6holocron.com/wiki/index.php?title=Strengthen/Weaken_Material ). But! Effects and how the power functions has been altered from the original.

Effect

This skill allows the Force practitioner to either strengthen or weaken physical, inanimate objects by either reinforcing or weakening their molecular bonds. While the object will retain the same density, volume, and mass, its ability to resist damage is altered because of the enhanced or weakened molecular structure.   When used, the affected object does not have a different visual appearance other than how well, or poorly, it reacts to being damaged.   However! An object may not be weakened below its ability to remain intact, so at a minimum, it may only be reduced to 1D no matter the situation.   This skill has no effect on living tissue since living tissue will adapt to the environment. Therefore reacting to the power to counter what the Force practitioner is attempting to do.

Side/Secondary Effects

Note that this skill doesn't allow a physical object to do more damage. It only alters the objects ability to resist being damaged.

Manifestation

When used on an object, the Force practitioner will feel the Force flow into the object. To a Force user, the object will either feel warmer to the touch than normal ( which means it might have been reinforced ) or colder to the touch ( which indicates it might have been weakened ).   This skill with the Force may be kept "kept up".   The Alter difficulty to roll against is based on the volume of the object to be strengthened and how much the Force practitioner is willing to alter the molecular bonds.   Amount to strengthen or weaken the object: Moderate | +3D ( or -3D ) Difficult | +4D ( or -4D ) Very Diff | +5D ( or - 5D ) Heroic | +6D to +8D ( -6D to -8D ) depending on the roll   Volume of the object: up to 1/4 cubic meter | +0 1 cubic meter | +10 2 cubic meters | +20 4 cubic meters | +30
