Character Creation: Easy Mode

In WEG, a Template is a more-than-half-finished starting Character Sheet. A Player in a hurry to get playing can do themselves a great kindness by looking over a collection of premade Templates to see if one is nearly right.

Try out the many options at d6 Holocron!

Note that many Templates could be grouped into related concepts. "Hot Shot Pilot", for example, has many similarities to the concepts of "Privateer Captain", which in turn is similar to the several varieties listed of "Smuggler".

If the species of this Template is not a match for your Character, adjustments can be made -- but, first, check with the GM.

If you spot a Template that works without any fiddling, congratulations! Skip ahead to CC 7D.

If none of these would be a fit before a lot of wrangling, make any useful notes about how other people prioritize their concepts. Go to CC from Species and prepare to invent your character's game mechanics from scratch.

Examples with Templates

Lady Acantha Vordrii

Of the three Templates listed on d6Holocron with the word "Noble" in their names, none really fit. She has her moments of arrogance. What Vor does not? Her upbringing put much more emphasis on the responsibilities of Vor rank than on the privileges of it. "Spoiled Debutante" is, similarly, a terrible fit.
The "Locator" Template could serve as a guidepost for Acantha's future career, depending on how her first few adventures go. She is not there yet, though!
Of all the listed Templates, "Alliance Liaison" is fairly close. Swap out the history as a teacher for a history as a municipal bureaucrat in training. Revise the logistics work in opposition to the Galactic Star Empire to become logistics work in local-scale social needs.
Alas, the Attributes on the first two renditions of this Template do not fit Acantha's concept. Why is Strength at the same top tier priority as Knowledge and Perception? Why does the total Attribute dice work out to be 19d+1?
Fortunately, the third version of the Template on this page is an excellent fit plus it fits within the character creation rules. Acantha can copy these Attributes onto her sheet, then move on to Skill Dice allocation.

Inyak Ennada

Inyak's background could have partially fit into several Templates, at least temporarily. He has as much in common with "Cautious First Mate" as he has with "Veteran Spacer". He lacks the optimistic youthful ambition of the "Pack Tracker" or the grand scale of the "Pirate's" brightly colored personality.
Of all the templates, only "Speeder Racer" really comes anywhere close to Inyak's concept. Even so, he needs to do a good bit of fiddling with the distribution of dice; and he will have to make some changes to the equipment.
Inyak Ennada can keep a few of these Templates open for comparison. However, he is going to be better off making his own Template from scratch.
