Prometheus Containment Station

We at the Prometheus Containment Station would like to remind you that being a squirrel is not a part of the chamber's completion protocal. If you are currently experiencing rapid hair growth, decrease in stature, a craving for acorns, or a tail, please contact a Prometheus Containment Station Medical official, such as a vet.
— VIRGO
When wizards tinker and experiment with magical item creation, mistakes tend to happen. Maybe the spell is malformed, or maybe the object melts before it can be finalized, or perhaps it turns into something completely different and equally less useful. Whatever the case, there soon arose a need to dispose of unstable magical items safely, and far away from the general population. What better place than outer space?   The problems with this approach soon arose when enough magical waste was dumped into the space surrounding Earth to cause a spacial anomaly in the shape of a rubber chicken. Realizing this could be problematic for future space travel, the The Global Confederation rushed to contain the anomaly inside what is now known as the Prometheus Containment Station, where all magical waste is now stored.   The effects of the magical waste were not completely dispelled, however, merely contained by the station's massive array of arcane sigils and dimensional anchors. The result is that the station looks normal from the outside, but the inside is a labyrinth of constantly shifting rooms and chambers, only navigable by the station's onboard AI, VIRGO, (Virtual Inter-Reality Guidance Operator) and even then the most straightforward way tends to involve a great deal of puzzles and walking in circles.   The station is often visited by wandering adventurers looking for powerful items to aid them in their quests, but they are often hesitant once they learn that the rooms are best navigated by a series of puzzles and the main console is a squid half the time. In addition, many of the items they obtain tend to have bizarre side-effects, which sometimes nullify the original intent, such as a fire wand that also shoots water, or a ring of invisibility that glows when active.

Purpose / Function

The purpose of the PCS is to store and contain magical waste products away from the general population of Earth, and keep them from leaking out reality-bending side-effects into the surrounding space.
