Genetaur

The genetaur are the only race in the system to not be created by one of the Elderon. Rather, they were created as a result of magenetic slurry runoff infecting lakes and swamps, and were born when animals tried laying their eggs in it. The result was a race with almost no consistent appearance, except their humanoid shape. Their limbs can be anything ranging from paws to claws to masses of tentacles, and their skin color covers the entire visible light spectrum. They often have multiple eyes, one or more tails, or one or more wings. While more toned-down version exist, they are the exception rather than the rule. This absolute mishmash of traits, combined with their origin, quickly made them many enemies, as most people believed them to be monsters, animals, or less. They have been discriminated against for millennia, and have been refused everything from medical care to representation in government to housing.

There is, however, a bright spot in their plight. The only attempt to exterminate their race was thwarted when all of the offending army's ammunition spontaneously transformed into rubber duckies upon firing. This was immediately followed and explained by the manifestation of Endiro, who decreed that the genetaur were now his patron race, and that any further attempts to exterminate them would result in the rearrangement of the offending party's facial orifices.

Despite this massive advantage, the genetaur still have a long way to go. While they are now allowed housing, and there are a great number of people from all races who see them as people, they are still denied political office and access to the stars. Recently, however, Endiro has decreed that his race should try and colonize Pluto by any means necessary, as he believes it may be the final push needed to get the other races to acknowledge their equality at last.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The genetaur are widely varied in their appearance. While always humanoid in shape, their appendages, number of facial orifices, and whether or not they have wings or a tail, or even how many, tends to be different from person to person, and it is widely believed that no two genetaur have the exact same configuration.

Growth Rate & Stages

Genetaur generally live to ages 100-150, and they mature at very random ages, usually ranging between 6-24. They reach old age usually about 50 years after they mature, although some have been reported to have never reached old age before dying.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Genetaur ability to see and hear is as varied as their appearance. Some have exceptional hearing or sight, others have sub-optimal, sometimes owing to the outright lack of such features. Some of the luckier genetaur have the ability to percieve sound waves, magic, infrared, and ultraviolet, while others have been reported to hear colors, or be able to hear in space.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Genetaur are divided into two categories: those born directly from magigeneti slurry, and those born to actual parents. Those in the former category tend to make one up and have no last name. Those in the latter category tend to follow the trends of whatever society they live in at the time.

Beauty Ideals

Genetaur have varied ideals of beauty, and what is beautiful to some is repugnant to others. Some are into tentacles, others scales, others still feathers. The only generalization that can be made is that if it's humanoid, there's some genetaur out there who's attracted to it.

Gender Ideals

Genetaur believe in equality between genders, and that there are no limits as to what either gender can or can't do.

Courtship Ideals

Genetaur share their courtship ideals with whatever society they're living in at the time.

Relationship Ideals

Genetaur has similar relationship ideals to whatever society they're living in.

Average Technological Level

Genetaur are the only race that does not have access to space travel. They have to share most technological developments with the other races.

Common Dress Code

Genetaur share their dress code with whatever society they're living in at the time.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Genetaur are generally despised by most of the other races. This has led to severe technological and political gaps between them and the other races. However, there are a great deal of people from all races who are helping them fight for equality. The genetaur tend to be very kind to these people, but they can't help but feel some resentment towards those who've treated them as less than animals for so long.

Hey, I like the way that you grouped together these mismatched individuals into a single race, a sort of grouping by necessity (Of being outcast by everyone else).   But that brings the question... If they are all from different animals whose eggs were corrupted... How do they reproduce? Are they not genetically differentiated?

Thank you for reading and providing feedback! To answer your question, most of the races I've written can be considered to have a "standard" (i.e., similar to human) form of reproduction unless specifically otherwise stated. In addition, most races to have the ability to interbreed, including the genetaur, so they all must have similar parts.   In short, a wizard did it.

Not going to lie.. the rubber ducky bullets because of a god of trickery and chaos made me laugh out loud. Immediate imagery went through my mind of an entire army suddenly looking at the ends of their weapons with a WTF?!? expression, like the master card commercial, priceless... My query is that if many people are helping them fight for equality what is actually preventing it from happening, or more specifically, colonizing Pluto?

Thank you for your feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed it! To answer your question in one word: technology. Despite the advances in their fight for equality, the genetaur as a whole do not have access to space travel.

These things are represented by the god of chaos who told them to conquer Pluto, that's great. XD However, if he wants them to be accepted to a greater degree, why doesn't he just decree it? "You guys have to accept these guys now or I'll turn you into rubber ducks!" or something similar. However, they seem neat as a concept overall. I think they could definitely use a bit of expanding on what they feel or think like. Things like that, saying they just copy the areas they are in robs them of identity imo. Doesn't have to be big, just a little bit that says what these things really -are-.   I'd also love to know what "Old Age" means to a genetaur? Because it seems to imply that they are "Old" for roughly 2/3rds of their life.

Thank you for your feedback! The reason Endiro doesn't just decree it is because while legally they'd be accepted, the rest of the system would still resent them to some degree internally, probably even more now that they'd have the blessing of a meddling Elderon. Besides, they'd probably find legal ways to screw them over anyways. This way, they get equality through respect, and by proving that they have their place in this universe too.
