Lakoti of the Keys

God of Garamant, Lord of Keys Lakoti

Born in the city of Garm Lakoti was the son of a powerful land owner and wanted for nothing as he grew up. Over his childhood, boredom and a feeling of entitlement ate at the boy's mind and left him snide, with a vicious streak and a thirst for power. When he inherited his father's lands, after a mysterious death, he was a cruel lord to those who worked under him. But he got results, his power grew and in his mid-30s, he and a few like-minded compatriots founded the city-state of Garamamt. Those he shared power with all found themselves dead within the year and he ruled alone. in his 50s whispers started to reach him, there were new gods, and they were once people.   This quickly became an obsession for Lakoti, he spent his fortune gathering all mention of these new gods, how had they achieved it? what would it take for him to do the same?   When the divine vacuum ascends someone it does not choose them because they are good or just, or even because they embody a specific ideal. It does so because for even the smallest moment they made contact with the divine.    Buval it was the self-sacrifice and purity of heart that allowed him to connect with the void. But Lakoti knew how self-centred he was, such a feat was out of his reach   Agoth the Poet is said to have ascended the moment he finished reciting his great work, but Lakoti's only goal in life had been to amass more power, how would he achieve that without achieving godhood first?....  It is said that great ideas come in a flash of light, well this idea was far from great and it slunk into Lakoti's mind creeping ever closer to the front little by little least any logical or compassionate part of his mind brush it away.   Power he realised was not something that a person had, it was something that a person did not have. and taking the power from those in his rule. that was something he could do. And so his great work began, first he ordered a wall to be built around the city-state. a defensive measure he told the people. That took 5 long years, but the people of the city did as he asked freely. once complete he went to each of the three gates and locked them. The key for each being added to his loop, the first step was complete.   Next he had his guardsmen, the army of Garamant fitted with collars, each one locked with a key that he alone had, this he added to the loop.   Then he turned his gaze on his subjects. it took 15 years but in the end, every man woman and child in the city-state was 'locked' a tight metal collar fitted to their neck that if removed would kill them.   Lakotis own son was the last person to have this fitted, and as lakoti himself turned the key and added it to his vast loop, he felt the void, saw into the divine and Lakoti of the Keys was born.
