Ang'Vu'Ko - The Wings of the sand

The vehicles of the Vu'Ko'Kita, called Ang'Vu'Ko are known across the land for their beauty and grace when traversing the sands of the Vu'Ko'tin. Often refered to as Angs, or Wings in common, when not moving the caravans look wide and low, from above they resemble roughly a manta in shape, large wings curving gently up on each side with a raised windbreak to protect the passengers from the sand-spray. Under these canopies you can find anything from beds to storage, each wing usually is home to two or three family units and a caravan is often made up of three or four of this size.    Often painted in the clans colours the canvas windbreaks and turbines are easy to spot approaching across the sands. a clan caravan will travel in a V formation with the navigator in the front most Ang. This can be an intimidating sight for travelers visiting Dinrakis, looking out into the desert and seeing the vibrant blues and pinks used by the southern clans approaching at speed, the sand being kicked up behind them, hiding their number and adding to the uncertainty.     Powered by the desert winds the two large wind catcher turbines turn the large paddle wheel that sits at the centre of each vessel propelling it forward. When traveling at full speed the vessels true magnificence is displayed, raising up on a hydrofoil and skimming across the sands On still days when the wind attempts to leave the vehicle beached in the baking sun, one can often see several of the Vu'Ko'Kita running on the paddle, when powered this way the hydrofoil is rarely able to deploy but any movement is better than none in the desert heat.     Rarely seeing combat the Ang do not usually have weapons equipped. Some of the more northern ranging clans occasionally have one or two harpoons attached to the bow, mainly due to the increased likelihood of the local fauna being of a unusual size that may mean it presents a threat. Similarly they are not defended in any way for combat or war. relying on their speed and surprising manoeuvrability to escape any threats environmental or otherwise.
