Source Splinter
Source Splinter is the final hope of mankind against the encroaching darkness. Not only could she be the means to securing victory for The Marinian League, she might be the means of securing the power to defeat the alshayatin.
The Source Reconnaissance Expedition is a multi-national expedition to sail north, navigating the ice flows to make landfall on Frospherir in search of the mythological Source.
Construction:
Originally named Bacchus, she was commissioned in 1567 as an Ibnian wine runner. Designed more to prevent wine escaping than the sea getting in, she was the perfect base to create a ship capable of braving the northern oceans. Commandeered by the Marish Navy during the blockade of Blancmar, she was taken to the Tarwass Isles and put under the care of the Auxiliary Naval Captain Nathaniel Colwin and his eccentric crew. The lucrative Distant Shores Pact between The Marinian League and The Eclipsyian Vaulata secured the crew access to an industrial new technology as they repurposed the ship ready for the expedition ahead. The wheellock spring mechanism connected by a piston and trip hammer to two swanfooted-paddles provided Source Splinter with the propulsion to crack open ice sheets as if they were egg shells. To protect the secrets behind the mechanism, the Vaulata insisted on sending Professor Abiyah ibn Azubid to be the sole means of operating it. Captain Colwins crew rebuilt her using oak beams selected for their natural shape, riveted the Dhibn sheets to the hull and rigged the special sails coated in an emulsion of bees wax and sealion fat. As a result, the newly christened Source Splinter became the most weather-resilient ship to ever be built outside of Thyorn. The Source Reconnaissance Expedition:
The Source Reconnaissance Expedition, Source Search for short, is a multi-national attempt to locate the mythological Source, and utilise the power to gain victory over the Coranimi Empire. Source Splinter set sail from Tarwass in the summer of 1645, with the intention of wintering over on the shores of New Aeven before heading into the Frosfric Ocean during the summer of 1646. Reports reached Ferfurst via the northern whaling stations of a wrecked taffrail bearing the word "SPLINTER". The whalers saw it as an omen or as evidence of The Winterwurm's existance , the officials back in Hemton knew it spelled doom for the crew of Source Splinter.Propulsion
A specially commissioned giant wheellock spring, crafted by the Eclipsyian master clocksmiths. Housed in the stern of the ship and rigged to a swanfoot-paddle, it is capable of producing a formidable amount of propulsion, albeit for a limited time.
The spring is wound using a hexagonal key and takes a strong engineer sixty minutes to wind up fully. A beneficial oversight of the mechanism is the up and down motion caused to the ship, which provides the bow-mounted saw with even more bite.

Weapons & Armament
Source Splinter bears no fixed weaponry, although she has a small magazine to hold the crynomite for use in breaking up large pack ice.
A Dhibn saw blade was specially crafted for her bow, to provide greater ability to split ice packs and create lanes to navigate through.

Armor and defense
Despite being a civilian ship, Source Splinter's lower-hull has been outfitted with a Dhibn sheet to protect it from the pinching ice and bludgeoning glaciers.
