Archangel Station
Purpose / Function
This station accommodates the High Command, which have an essential goals for the proper functioning of the armed forces by transmitting the Joint Chiefs of Staff's directives to the regional commands and to serve as their intermediary with the Joint Chiefs of Staff. It is the Archangel Station which hosts the offices of the High Command's leader, the center of the station is occupied by the huge command room of the High Command, the rest of the space is took by administrative premises or habitable sections for personnel. It also serves as an important logistics node with supplies for all branches that pass through it and redirected throughout the Republic.
Eventually, although it was not initially planned during its construction, the station gradually became a last refuge for the government in the event of a rapid takeover of the inner Sol System making the orderly transfer of the government to another system impossible. Fortunately, this was never put into practice since Earth was never put in direct danger. However, government contingeny plans still provide for the evacuation of key government personnel to the station before their transfer to another safer system to set up a temporary capital in the event of this disaster scenario.
Alterations
The station has undergone little modification since its construction due to its good design whose effectiveness has been proven over time and the absence of any attacks until now. The only improvements that have been brought to the station was for the defense, survival and operating systems to keep up with technological advencement.
Architecture
The station is organized around a center in the form of a circle which has several branches which serve for the stowage of Navy vessels, hangars to accommodate the squadrons used for the defense of the station or living spaces for the command's administration. The High Command is located in the center of the station in a huge dome-shaped room. This one has computer consoles placed in its center, an area reserved for the Chief of the Armed Forces at the extreme south of the room and screens displaying real-time information from the armed forces on the walls of the latter.
Defenses
The station has several dozen fixed defense platforms stationed around the main station as well as about fifty turrets which accommodate electromagnetic, kinetic and missile weapons and ballistic weapons for close defense on his hull. In addition to static defenses, the station can rely on a dozen squadrons of fighters, either those permanently assigned to the station or those stationed on Navy vessels guarding the area. Finally, the Navy, with the Home Fleet, attaches great importance to the protection of this station, the loss of which would be a big blow to the coordination of the armed forces.
History
The station was built after the Constitutional Reformations during the reform of the chain of command of the armed forces which created the Special Forces Joint Staff and make the Marine Corps a branch in its own right. The station is located in orbit of Jupiter in the Sol system to be able to be protected more easily by the Navy and is from the time its construction was completed one of the most important places for the defense of the Republic. It proved particularly useful during the Western War where it was from the main room that the war effort was coordinated.
