Perfectly normal Moody Gerbils

Fluffy from nose to tail, this defenseless looking creatures can be quite dangerous for those who treat them or their environment.   Of course, every creature is capable of attacking when they feel cornered, and that includes small adorable rodents, but the Moody Gerbils in the wild are always aggressive towards new species and visitors in their habitat.   They are quite smart, whether it is to get rid of intruders, find food and shelter, or simply have fun.

Social Structure

The moody gerbils are very sociable and have a way to communicate with each other even from afar. They easily share territory, developing friendships, rivalries and families, but they don't seem to have any form of hierarchy.

Domestication

If you manage to find one of this creatures early enough to convince them that you are a friend instead of a foe, and become part of what they considered vital an familiar, you are earning a clever protector. They may learn tricks (as long as they find them amusing too), and would share their space and resources with you.

 Of course, training a Moody Gerbil is not for anyone, and many have lost an eye in the process, so it's not a common practice.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Domesticated Moody Gerbils are great to keep thieves (and visitors) away but their use is forbidden or at least discouraged by most neighborhood association, municipal councils and animal protection organizations.
The Deadly Entertainers  have managed to train them to act like bodyguards for their captain. They call them The fluffy guard —or rats, it depends on the situation.
