The Tale of Ku'suk the Foolish and Dead
One day in a village called Mm-Kabalas, there was a young Balyom named Ku'suk. Ku'suk was a strong and brave boy, but he was very foolish. One day, Ku'suk noticed that several members of his neighbor's flock had gone missing, and upon investigating, he found out that there was a large beast that had been stealing the animals in the night. His neighbor had tracked the beast down to its lair, but dared not fight it, as it was far too large and intimidating for one person to kill on their own.
The townspeople had set a date in the next week to hunt and slay the beast, but each night passed and Ku'suk could hear the animals getting taken. He decided that enough was enough. He took his father's spear and armor and set off to fight the beast on his own.
When he got to the lair of the beast, it towered over him. It was far larger and more imposing than he could ever have imagined, but Ku'suk stood bravely before it. Then, the beast tore him limb from limb in a brutal display of force. His neck was ripped to shreds by its massive teeth and was left outside of the beast's lair while it devoured the rest of his body.
The end.
Summary
The moral of this story is to discourage children from picking fights that they cannot win, as well as give an accurate and historical retelling of a very foolish and unnecessary death that Ku'suk brought upon himself.
Historical Basis
Given that the Balyoms are a very literal people, this almost certainly happened. The description of the beast in the story varies from account to account, but most versions vaguely describe a Doranii. Since this took place before the Balyoms were space-faring, there is reason to believe that the Balyoms thought that the Doranii was some strange alien monster, which it more or less was.
