Glorious Empress Josephine I
Glorious Empress Josephine (a.k.a. Jo, Tajana)
History
Before she became the space empress of everyone’s heart, Josephine was born and raised on Concordia IX and served the Pavlenko Crime Family as a child. She gained notoriety when the police raided one of the gambling rings in the lower levels of the city and she managed to get all the staff and money out.
One of the Pavlenkos paid to send her to school as thanks for her multiple years of service (her father was a capo, so it was expected), and it quickly became quite clear to her professors that she was a gifted strategist. Tearing through her opponents with ruthless speed and efficiency was what tipped them off.
Through some hard work and a whole lot of luck (seriously, this lady’s lucky), she managed to get herself off of Concordia IX and into Supreme Emperor Ferdinand’s good graces. As he had no heirs, he elevated Josephine to the position of heir apparent as she was his protégé.
The emperor eventually died, and Josephine took over- taking the name Glorious for reasons I ain't tellin y'all yet. (SPILL THE BEANS ALREADY MAC -kart)
Personality Characteristics
Savvies & Ineptitudes
In terms of how she projects herself- she likes to seem capable, even when she's totally out of her depth. She's also got a mouth on her- she's incredibly blunt and has no time for fancy-dancy court talk. She swears like a sailor.
She's not a curious individual, but she is an intense one. She's also kind of funny, and if there's one thing she misses about the lower decks of Concordia IX, it's the people who would genuinely laugh at her jokes instead of laughing because it's expected.
Good at math, bad at spelling and grammar.
Virtues & Personality perks
Time for some positives though! Even though she's very goal oriented, she acknowledges where she came from and does her best to always pay attention to people beneath her position. She's also been known to elevate random people to high positions for a day or a week to see what changes they can bring.
Vices & Personality flaws
I'm gonna be totally honest here, as much as I love Josephine- she's a dumbass. She approaches problems with such single minded focus that it's almost admirable. She sees issues and she doesn't acknowledge the nuance, she chooses whatever solution is best at the moment.
This is the frame of mind that was demanded to survive Concordia IX, and it's the frame of mind that elevated her military career as high as it’s become. Eventually she’ll learn to see the shades of gray, but that's not today.
