Adelaide Thompson (a.k.a. Lady)
History
She was born on Chrysus during the Chrysian War. Lady developed cataracts over both her eyes before birth, and so spent her entire childhood fully blind. t t t
She had an older brother named Wyatt. Wyatt was responsible for every one of Lady’s near-death accidents. She once tried to follow Wyatt and a group of his friends while they were messing around a construction site. As you might imagine, work zones are not terrific places for blind six-year-olds to be in. Lady tripped as she was trying to catch up to the boys, and her legs were completely crushed by some heavy equipment as she tried to get up. Though the technology was available, Lady and Wyatt’s parents couldn't afford to regrow Lady's legs. They settled instead to get her prosthetics because it was the cheapest option that would allow her to walk.
When she was around 10, she got scooped up with a bunch of other kids while at school one day and evacuated from the planet. Lady was dropped off on Kansas, a planet known for its farms. Her new family lived on a ranch and offered to buy her surgery to fix her eyes if she would work hard. She agreed, and so she lived. Lady dreamt of one day getting off Kansas to join the Regulators.
Her wish was eventually granted. Lady bid her adoptive family and blush drake goodbye and left Kansas with a Regulator scout. She was trained in Fairyland.
Thanks to the surgery she can see, but the muscles that control her eyeballs never fully developed due to lack of use. One of her eyes was also badly damaged in a fall, so even with the correction Lady is still half blind. She can move her eyes slightly, but she mostly turns her head to look around. also has metal legs bc her real ones got messed up bad. Her skin is fragile and prone to damage. Lady wears a lot to cover her body, for sake of protection and for sake of hiding from others.
Personality
Lady enjoyed the solitude of tangbeast herding, but longed for company and adventure. She projects a tough cowboy personality to hide her vulnerabilities, both physical and mental. Basically just every western troupe you can think of wrapped into one person. Though pessimistic, Lady is very patient with work or other people and won’t give up until A) the job is done, or B) she deems the task impossible. She absolutely HATES people telling her she can't do something, and reverse psychology is an effective tactic against her.
