Soviet Europe

Suppose Germany had conquered Britain in WWII before invading Russia... but still eventually fell to the Soviets’ staying power and sheer determination. After a long and brutal war, the Russians finally liberated Europe from the Nazis. Of course, 'liberation' is a relative term when it's the USSR doing it....   Exhausted by war, Western and Eastern Europe are both brought into the Communist system. Closed off from a world they once led, the imperial powers of the nineteenth century become the satellite states of the twentieth, conquered twice by two different totalitarian regimes. The leaders we know may fall, and unknowns may rise, both as heroes and as traitors.   But beyond geopolitical dynamics, the course of history will affect lives. Some people make the best of the new regime. Some resist. Some try to escape. No one faces easy choices.   A series of short stories, ranging in genre from political intrigue to slice-of-life to a classic Cold War-style spy tale, will explore different facets of this alternate-history setting.   [under construction]
