In 2122, mankind rose from the ashes of nuclear apocalypse and returned to space for the first time in a century, leaving the ruined Earth behind. With the power of fusion, colonies were established on the Moon, and beyond. But as humanity had learned from it's countless terrestrial conflicts, it could not remain in the Solar system. In 2140, the most influential ship in human history, and first of it's kind, the HRSS Sovereign left the Solar system bound for Alpha Centauri under the power of the first operational warp drive. It's arrival marked the first exodus of mankind beyond Sol. The warp drive carried humanity to a new age of prosperity and hope. But the discovery of the Well further changed mankind's path through the stars. A wormhole spewing exotic matter into the void, a new, almost incomprehensibly valuable resource. It brought humanity to disastrous war, and shaped the empires to come. But when the death and conflict had ended, mankind had the knowledge to form wormholes and the fuel to create them. The galaxy was open, and the new nations forged from this event ruled over their domains for centuries without true conflict. But bitter resentment had built over the past centuries, and war swept back over mankind. The Great Frontier War raged for three decades, and brought the great powers to their knees. The empires limped on, a shadow of themselves, as they tried to rebuild. Corruption has begun to fester, and war brews again, all too soon. The year is 2875, and mankind once again stands on the precipice of destruction.
