Multiplier Playbook in Soulbank | World Anvil

Multiplier Playbook

An anomaly, a legion, twin souls made one

Your existence challenges many traditional ideas of identity and individuality. Multipliers manifest in Soulbank with multiple avatars under a single UID. Some came about recently, while others have existed as Multipliers as far back as their memories allow. While some believe Multipliers are the result of strange errors, others believe it’s simply the nature of some rare minds.

When you play a Multiplier, you earn XP when you address a challenge with networking and coordination between your avatars. In many ways, you are like all the other Users in terms of needs, but your unusual nature gives you a unique outlook and challenges among those who don’t understand your divided nature.

Are you one User in multiple bodies? Are you each facets of a single mind? Are you a gestalt of multiple Users come together? A gang of like-minded Process who somehow obtained a UID? Or is the concept of “person” just too limited to describe who and what you are?

Starting Function Dots: +1 Find, +1 any other

Multiplier Abilities

Another Avatar: All Multipliers start with this ability. You may rez an additional, independent avatar that must remain within a certain distance. Your avatars may perform teamwork actions with each other, but you possess a shorter stress tracker at 6 and have one less free MEM. Consequences or Harm that affect your mind or are based on your UID affect all your avatars equally. Physical Harm may be tracked separately for each avatar at the GM's discretion. Administrators consider you to be one User, regardless of how different your avatars may be. Other Playbooks wishing to take Multiplier abilities as a Veteran option must take this ability first.

From Many, One: You may spend 1 MEM to push yourself for a feat of coordination between your avatars. Getting your avatars working together smoothly takes mental effort and processing cycles.

Groupthink: When performing a social function against a large group, you do not have reduced effect due to the target group’s scale. If you lead a group social action, you take a maximum of 1 stress damage.

Internal Conflict: You gain an additional xp trigger: When an internal, mental conflict spills over into an external conflict between your various selves. Mark 1 Crew xp if they also get embroiled in this conflict.

Parallel Processing: Your independent avatars can all operate from anywhere in the same district.

Tag In, Tag Out: When one of your avatars performs a setup maneuver for another, gain increased effect in addition to improved position. Coordinating multiple bodies under such circumstances takes a lot of mental strain.

The One Who Is Many: At the start of a score, you may rez as up to 3 independent avatars or as a Scale 1 gang with Quality equal to your crew Tier. You may increase the number of independent avatars or switch to a gang as part of a flashback at the GM’s discretion.

We Are Legion: When you lead a gang from your crew’s cohort, increase that gang’s Scale by 1 as your avatars shore up their numbers. Prerequisite: The One Who Is Many

We Get A Lot Done: You gain +1 Downtime activity. At the GM’s discretion, you may have increased effect on long-term projects due to having multiple hands making lighter work.

Multiplier Loadout

  • Linked Arc Wheels: A full set of Arc Wheels for your avatars, able to return to any of their hands. Good for coordinated attacks as a group. (2 Boxes)
  • n-Cycle or a “Clown Car”: Whether it’s a cycle built for two, a large truck, or enough bikes for a gang, your avatars all have a means of ground transport. (2 Boxes)
  • Shadow Clones: Whether it’s manifesting temporary avatars to take the hit or software that effectively distributes errors between them, you’re good at mitigating stress and damage with your sheer numbers. (2 Boxes, +Armor)
  • Sensor Suite: Having multiple perspectives has its advantages. You can obtain additional data about various phenomena thanks to triangulation subroutines and redundant sensory processes. (1 Box)
  • Fake IDs: Forged User Crests for each of your avatars. Sometimes you don’t want people to realize you’re all technically extensions of the same UID. Beware close inspections and Administrators. (1 Box)
  • Anti-Glitch Partitioning: Glitch often reacts strangely with the avatars of Multipliers, potentially spreading from one to another, regardless of distance. This software mitigates such issues. In theory. (1 Box)
