Cliff Elves (Ellif)

Distant, hidden and isolationists the Cliff elves are typically not the sociable type with outsiders. While there are a few Cliff elves and cliff elves societies that exist with the rest of the world, most Cliff elves live humble lives in tribes and communities cut off from the rest of the world. And while Cliff elves can speak spoken languages, due to their isolation they often never will, making a common perception that the Cliff elves are incapable of talking. Most Cliff elves will refuse to teach different peoples of their native tongue, keeping the meaning of their motions a secret from outsiders. Due to the Cliff Elves' language being a scriptless gesture, most Ellif will know how to read and write either, Sylvan, Elvish and sometimes Common, depending on how isolated the individuals' community is. (for example, a Cliff elf community which is very isolated would write in Sylvan, One which is moderately isolated would write in Elvish and Cliff elves which either live in the wider society or co-exist with one will write in a Common script).
As their name hints to, Cliff elves tend to live in mountains planes, tundra and cliffsides across Sostina. Some of the Ellif live in the cold and harsh mountains near snowshed while others live in warmer and dryer mountain tops in and around Yurkia. Some even live in the cliffsides, ravines and valleys of the wildland jungles. In these regions, the Ellif often live in nomadic tribes or permeant communities of villages and small towns. Typically the Ellif will take horses, goats, large incests and foxes as pets. Typically have little to no body hair and longer ears than a typical elf.
Ellif worship the elements, in particular, they worship the air. Once every full moon the Ellif traditionally travel to or prepare a shrine where they can pray and meditate. Also at these events, Ellif will often practice their wind magic and challenge one another to climbing and fighting contests. This ritual begins with the rising of the moon and ends in the fall.
Cliff elves also have a family and clan name. So a Cliff elves name could be Raven (for a first name) Sowl (for a family name) Alneai (for a clan name).

Basic Information

Biological Traits

Ability Score increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 1 and your wisdom score by 2.
Cantrip. You know the Gust Cantrip. At 3rd level, you can cast the Gust of Wind spell each short rest. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
Darkvision. Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern colour in darkness, only shades of grey.
Elf Weapon Training. You have proficiency with the shortsword, whip and Net (as well as any Ellif weaponary).
Ellif climbing: your climbing speed is 30 and you have proficiency with climbing tools and in with acrobatics skill.
Size. Most Cliff Elves are a few inches taller than their cousins, ranging from just over 6 foot to slightly surpassing 7 foot. Your size is Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Fey Ancestry. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.
Trance. Elves don’t need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is “trance.”) While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dream s are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.
Languages. You can gesture in silent speak. You can speak, read and write either: Sylvan, Elvish or Common.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Most Ellif typically sustains themselves from roots, vegetables, herbs, fruits, juices, kinds of milk, cheeses, blood and meats. However, meats are not eaten daily or many even weekly by most Ellif and blood is drain in a modest amount from the Ellif livestock such as goats, yaks and horses
