The Legendary Tales of Food

The Porri have a long tradition of being the most skilled domestic workers on all the Isles of Sorti, and to spite the fact they are a relatively new race to the Isles their reception has be more kind then then others, and the main reason for this is their culinary expertise that no other race seems to be able to duplicate, and even if they wanted to the Porri have no written recipes.   With their large claw like hands, it made early attempts at developing a written system of writing almost impossible as specialize writing implements would of had to be developed. Instead the Porri gave up early on developing a written system, and instead use a long historical oral tradition of handing down stories and tales that are pasted from one generation to the next. Many who hear this fact think that the solution to learning the Porri's secrete recipes is simple, but the recipes are not a simple ingredients list, but hours long pieces prose, or anecdotes that have the details of cooking entrenched deep in story telling and cultural traditional. In fact one lucky enough to find or listen to a recipe would still be lost, for without the Porri's cultural back ground it is almost impossible to discover the cooking method simply by listening to a story, or transcribing it.   However even knowing this the affluent of the world treat every transcribed recipe of the Porri as a treasured documents worth fortunes, and this because if deciphered it would become a goose that lays golden eggs, allowing it owner to monetize the Porri's recipe, and mass product it. Knowing this the Porri will often hum recipes to themselves while cooking, but almost never share the full tales with anyone untrustworthy. If fact a Porri teaching a family recipe is the greatest sign of trust and loyalty they can give.

Purpose

Any page or pages of a single transcribed recipe can be worth a small fortune, and many are willing to pay even if the document is fake...that means that it is an excellent item that can be used as an adventure seed, it is often a target of theft, and a great way to prove a persons loyalty.
