Aelvar

The Most Hated

The Aelvar are a long-lived people who tried to take over the world at one time. The Aelvar think of themselves as experts on a variety of topics. They tend to specialize in areas of study that interest them and continue to work on them over the course of the extremely long life in order master them. Such masters call themselves the Dynasts, and it is considered true that they know more about a topic than anyone else alive other than another Dynast in the same area.   HATED BEYOND WORDS The Aelvar once tried to take over the world and rule it with an iron fist. As they began to lose the various battles, and eventually the Great War, they grew increasing desperate. That desperation led them to creating and unleashing horror after horror on the world. While not all Aelvar participated or endorsed what the Dynasty's leaders were doing, those actions made the Aelvar some of the most hated people in the world. They are often blamed for anything that goes wrong, are considered bad luck, and are the most mistreated people in the world. They are often victims of hate crimes, even though most people understand the current generation of Aelvar were born after they tried to destroy the world.   THE GREAT SCHISM When the Alevar Dynasty's leaders decided the best way of handling the "Uprising" was to be ruthless and merciless, it created issues amongst those who started to question if the Aelvar people were really doing the right thing, or if their arrogance and sense of superiority was leading them down a dark and destructive path. They were proven right about the dark path when leadership first started to summon dark and evil entities to attack their enemies. The result was a split in people. Those who agreed with the Dynasty and those who wanted to overthrow the leadership and sue for peace. The civil war was brief and almost went completely unknown when the Aelvar Dynasty tried to destroy the world rather than surrender it.   THE LONG VIEW
