The teachings of the gods

I find it hard to believe that all that is written down here is true. Yet the archaeology supports the teachings universally. I wonder what it means for me, as they claim I am divine. I just wish I knew how I got here or why I am here.

The Aeon of Guidance

In the beginning there were (titan of the sun) and her husband (titan of the moon). Together they decided to create (mother titan) and things were good. After some time (mother titan) created a realm of her own. To help manage this realm she created the gods. Of those created (king of the gods) and (queen of the gods) found themselves drawn to the ice sheets, and they took up home there.

Cration of Humanity

After some time the gods petitioned (mother titan) for subjects of their own so she created humanity. When she gave (king of the gods) and (queen of the gods) their humans the gods lead them off of the ice as they decided it was too harsh for their new charges. After settling them on the lands off of the ice (queen of the gods) taught the humans their language, while (king of the gods) filled the ocean with seals for leather and meat. Humanity then asked where would they live, and (king of the gods) instructed them to bury the parts of the seal they did not eat as then trees would grow for them to build their homes. So the Humans did.

The Arrivals

After the humans had built their home from the trees a pair of twin goddess arrived at their settlement. (king of the gods) questioned the new commoners. They announced themselves as (Goddess of civilization) and (Goddess of trades) and revealed they were fleeing from their siblings who were fighting other gods. (Queen of the gods) asked what they could bring to the domain she and her husband ruled over. (Goddess of civilization) talked about how she built buildings and housing for her humans to help them be more comfortable. (King of the gods) asked if she could work with what was already across the land, (goddess of civilization) said she could. (Goddess of trades) offered her skills as a craftsmen, showing off the woven fabrics her humans were wearing. These impressed (king of the gods) and (queen of the gods) and they were allowed to say provided they swore fealty and changed themselves and their humans to fit in with them.

While they were reforming both their bodies and the bodies of their humans they requested that the bright hair colors may stay. As a token of respect for the twins they were permitted to leave the bright hair colors. This pleased the twins and they began to their work. (goddess of civilization) began planning a city for the humans to live in and teaching them how to live in it. (the goddess of trades) taught the humans to tan leather, and created plants for them to weave into textiles. This let the humans follow the gods into their divine domain. This pleased the king and queen of the gods and things were good.

After another time (king of the gods) found a pair of interlopers. These gods were leading their bands of humans away from a danger. The king was sympathetic to the plight of these gods and their humans, so he asked what they could offer in exchange for entry into the domain. (god of knowledge) offered both fielty his mind and the knowledge he and his band had gathered. He presented the knowledge of metals, ship construction and sailing. This impressed the king of the gods and his fealty was accepted. (king of the gods) turned to the second god introduced himself as (god of war) and offered his blade to defend the domain. He knew (king of the gods) was the master he was destined to serve. After a display of skill his fealty was also accepted.

The First City

When (god of knowledge) and (god of war) arrived at the settlement with their bands of humans they began to settle in with the existing deities and their humans into the populace. (god of knowledge) saw the homes made of logs and grasses he was torn. They were well made however the materials were unrefined. He turned to (goddess of trades) and conversed with her sharing his knowledge of hewing and riving to process the logs into boards and beams. This inspired her so she with the craftsmen set to rebuilding the settlement.

(god of war) surveyed the simplistic settlement and grew concerned. The city was a loose cluster of neighborhoods. He saw the difficulty in protecting the people who lived in it. He approached (king of the gods) to purpose his changes. After listening to the plan (king of the gods) gathered the divine and they held a council. When it was concluded his decision was all men were to be trained by (god of war) to defend the lands and those unable to fight. The city would be rebuilt to help facilitate the defense of the people. This also marked the beginning of the relationship between (god of war) and (goddess of civilization). This new city was now to be called (first city).

In this portion of history is where the first of the Elder Stories and lessons take place. Most of these have lost the names of the human participants, or instead focus on the deities themselves.

Of Land and of Sea

After (first city) was rebuilt it began to thrive. (goddess of trades) and (god of knowledge) helped to build cobbled roads, homes of stone and beams, a harbor for the fishing and sealing boats and multiple storehouses for the (god of war)’s and (goddess of civilization)’s weapons and wears. With the city thriving things were good.

One day the fisherman were disrupted as a wounded god emerged from the sea carrying an unconscious goddess. (king of the gods) recognized the couple and directed to their care. When (god of the sea)’s wounds were treated he announced a grave danger. Unlike when (goddess of trades) and (goddess of civilization) fled from the south when gods and goddess were battling out over irrelevant things such as vanity. However a new entity (invader) had arrived and a battle between it and (mother titan) had begun. His following had been corrupted by (invader), and they attacked both him and (goddess of the land).

When (goddess of land) awoke she varied this grave news. (god of war) began fortifying the city. Walls of stone and gates of iron were constructed. (god of knowledge) designed new machines and mechanisms for humanity’s defense. (goddess of trades) formed these machines into existence. The new machines of war needed supplies and thus the city developed the first large workshop was built. Then the followers of (goddess of land) and (god of sea) began to arrive at the city. These new arrivals were welcomed by the city’s defenders.

Then the watch began. The majority of the stories describing the relationships of the gods were chronicled during the watch.

Death and Life

After (god of sea) and (goddess of land) had integrated into themselves and their followers into their new home. (first city) had evolved to have lighted stone streets, water wheels powering the workshops, and a small fleet of ships harvesting the bounty of the sea and a fleet of airships helping to tend to the land. (goddess of civilization) was finally relieved that her fears had not come to pass. Civilization and humanity had adapted well to their new environment and the technology that came with it.

One night an airship returned beaten and battered. Its crew carried with them a warning. A large monster was moving towards the city. (god of war) did not hesitate and started to marshal the defenders. It was not long before the monster was spotted from the watch towers. It was a horrific sight.

The monster consisted of hundreds of creatures some of lands some of sea, some of air, and at it’s heart was a corrupted god. All components were so distorted that none could easily be recognized. Even more frightening was the fact that this twisted form radiated waves of wrath. (king of the gods) ordered those humans unable to fight to flee. None did, for they knew this was their hardest challenge, and they must stay to overcome it.

Then the battle began.

It raged on between (god of war), (king of the gods) and the monster. Humanity was also fighting with every tool at it’s disposal to assist with fending off this creature. After twenty four days, the creature was defeated and the city still stood albeit barely. As humanity slowly emerged from the ruins (mother titan) appeared in the city next to a weeping woman. In her arms lay a man, cold and unmoving.

The man was dead.

The woman turned to (mother titan) and pleaded save this man, for he had protected her during the fight. As she recounted all the ways he had saved her she too grew cold. A poison was flowing though her veins leaching life from her body. The woman pleaded with her mother, begging for a way to honor the man’s sacrifice. Seeing another one of her children die in front of her brought (mother titan) to tears. As the woman stopped speaking the last of her life leaving her body two tears fell from the mother titan’s eyes. One striking the man, one the woman. New life welled up in both of them. As they stirred they kneeled in fidelity to their mother, now twice over.

The new gods introduced themselves, the woman was (goddess of death) and the man (god of life). This eased (mother titan)’s tears only for a moment. (mother titan) explained that (goddess of death) had been inflected with a horrible curse, which due to the mother titan’s own carelessness was now going spreading to all humanity. Humans would slowly wear and age, eventually leading to their deaths. This curse would also make humans vulnerable disease, force and famine. As she spoke, revealing the new way of the world the worst wounded began to suffer as their life leaked from their bodies.

Unable to save them humanity wept. As they did so, (god of life) sprang into action. He gathered as much of the life as he could from the dying. The gods watched him confused. Once he had gathered as much as he could he turned to them in a rush, life needed a vessel otherwise it would dissipate and it needed one quickly. His eyes pleading for any answer. (goddess of death) offered herself up, and (god of life) thrust it into her belly.

She swelled with the life pushed into her and then with great pain she released a child. (goddess of children) was born. (mother titan) was amazed by the quick thinking of these new deities. As there was a connection to humanity within these now three deities she used them to enact a change across humanity. Humans could now reproduce. Men would impart some of their life into women and after a time she would birth a child.

The remaining deities took this and applied it to their creations as well, some choosing different ways of reproduction. While humanity and the deities celebrated their new ability, the god of war set his eyes south. He knew and understood the new level of suffering taking place past the horizon and he vowed to his mother that he would fight to end it.

(ice home)

As humanity rebuilt (mother titan) headed back south to inform and fight. (king of the gods) held another council and it was decided that a new city would be created isolated on the ice to the north. It was to be called (ice home) and the deities would use their powers to create a safe fortress for humanity and themselves. This city would be a masterwork of both divine and human ingenuity.

Before this new city was to be built the location must be found. (king of the gods) created a new creature (messenger of the gods). It wasatching the deity it was serving. Both he and his queen sent their flock north to help them find the location for (ice home).

While the messengers searched humanity flourished. The first books on chemistry, mathematics, biology, and medicine were written; the first classic works of literature were written; the vehicles for (great migration) were created. With these deeds the (book of preparations) was chronicled. Then the King of the Gods announced (ice home)’s location has been found.

(great migration)

Humanity and the deities began the trek north onto and across the fields of the ice. As humanity trudged though the snow and ice the deities left (god of war) and (goddess of civilization) to shepherd and guide the humans traveling overland while they traveled by air ahead of the air-fleet.

When the deities arrived they began preparing the site for the city. The ice sheet was hollowed out, land raised from the sea, hot springs brought up to provide drinking water and warm the valley. When the air-fleet arrived construction on (ice home) began. Humanity started with (the great temple) was created in the center to house the divine. This upset (queen of the gods) for she wanted humanity to tend to themselves first in this new environment.

While the air-fleet flew ahead of the convoy clawed though the snow and ice. Days turned into weeks as it ground though the deep snow, howling storms, and the blistering cold. As they traveled, these obstacles wore down the convoy, vehicles broke down, people died, but they continued on. When they arrived at (ice home) a third of it had been lost to the ice.

Out of this migration the first heroes of humanity were forged.
