Apocalyptic SIFI fantasy world were point gates were used for travel and ships circled the planet. The 'Time Before' where men, elves, dwarves, hobbits, gnomes, and half-orcs have developed future tech that has allowed for building space vehicles and drooping them into space via their point gate technology. Most civilization was clustered around cities that were home to point gates, which allowed for ease of travel and large throughput of commerce. Then an apocalyptic event happened killing many and removing any memory of how to use the technology from the survivors. Thus the planet was plunged into a stone age. Some of the tech, like ships and point gates that weren't destroyed were maintained by AI as civilization struggled to rebuild. Dinosaurs and other creatures roamed the wild and some of the races that were living on the ships during the event were evolved to new races. Now civilization has progressed to a time that resembles the middle ages and have learned how to use the point gates even if the technology is not understood. Ruling family reside in cities where there are functioning point gates and leverage them to maintain political and economic control.
