"Ours is the Empire that shall last until the Sun no longer sets."The Denisoveese are the people who inhabit the frigid region of Denisove in the southeast of Somnium. It is an umbrella term used to refer to the three ethnic groups residing there, each with their own language, culture and religion, though it may also refer to their descendants, born elsewhere. The Denisoveese are isolationists at heart, not caring much about the state of the rest of the world; they would rather nurse their own people and thrive than to get involved with the other parts of Somnium. BIOLOGY.
The Denisoveese are people of short stature when compared to other Somniator ethnicities; this is believed to have evolved to preserve body heat in the frigid land from which they originated. While all Denisoveese are light in skin, Western Denisoveese are generally stockier and have lighter skin and thinner eyes than Eastern Denisoveese. Denisoveese have straight, black hair and dark eyes. They also tend to have less body hair, less facial hair, flatter faces, smaller noses, wider cheekbones, and "shovel-shaped" incisor teeth (slightly scooped out shape of back side of the front teeth).CULTURE.
The Denisoveese, as a general rule, tend to pay close attention to the relatively abstract concept of blood purity. They are one of the oldest races on Somnium, and their stories and legends go way beyond those told by the Seentriaese. Though they are divided in the present day and age after the collapse of the Veenean Dominion, they are extremely proud of their Denisoveese heritage, and make a concerted effort to maintain their genetic lineage. Even the calmer and receptive Sonerians from the Republic of Soneria might still hold "half-bloods" in contempt or think less of those who intermingle with other ethnicities. Denisoveese are among the most intelligent and developed cultures in Somnium, and they also display a high level of Chronite radiation due to their proximity to the Slohkar's Impact, losing only to the Askriish people on this matter. Denisoveese are well known for their noble countenance, and though some might be open to comerce with other nations and even welcome and treat well visitors, others prefer to isolate completely and depend only upon themselves - those like the Ebonmyin are known for acting with arrogance and disdain when dealing with others outside their own culture. For the Denisoveese, large eyes, a small nose and petite frame are regarded as attractive on a woman. Small eyes, large lips, freckles, a flat nose and high cheek bones are considered unattractive. The ideal beauty has wide, bright eyes and a face "shaped like an upside down goose egg or sunflower seed.” The ideal bachelor is regarded as a man with a stockier frame than a woman's, though not burly. While facial hair is held in figuratively thin ice by Sonerians and Ghri'Esians, the Ebonmyin seem to find that a trace of power in a man. Ghri'Esian men tend to let their hair grow long, contrasting with Sonerians and Ebonmyin.
