Dalyar Celebras

Headmaster of the Academy of Music

To most people, Dalyar Celebras is a peculiar yet somehow charming and graceful elf with long, silvery gray hair that is always well kept and who wears fancy but not too flamboyant clothing. He is someone that arrived in the city of Fitchview a few centuries ago and has since then been an influential and important figure within the Academy of Music, even rising to the status of headmaster. The elf can often be seen carrying instruments and sheets of music paper around the halls of the academy or sternly but fairly teaching the promising up and coming talents of the bard world.   In reality, Dalyar is a silver dragon in human form. While he keeps that fact secret, he has long abandoned his past life and fully embraces his current one within the community of bards. He didn't help build it, the academy has roots in further past than him, but during his stay it has flourished and become quite a bit more famous. As such, the elf-dragon is proud of his achievements and wishes nothing more than to be remembered for who he currently is. It has been at least two centuries since he last even shifted to his true form.

Before Fitchview

Before the Great War a bit over three centuries ago, dragons aligned with good were a welcome sight in the cities of Ansalon, but during the war this changed. Voraci abused the primal instincts of the dragonkind and turned even the benevolent metallic kind loyal to Bahamut to her service. The dragons who had been considered powerful protectors, gifts from the gods, turned on the people of the kingdoms and contributed to massive losses of life and resources. Since then, the few that survived the war, have lived in seclusion, north of the The High-Vale Mountain Range.   At the time the still relatively young silver dragon Dalyar himself was also affected by this corruption. He was captured on the battlefield and kept imprisoned with magic until the end of the war. The dragons that were captured alive went through a series of risk-evaluations by the kingdom's wizards on whether they should be put to death or released live out their lives outside of the kingdom. These tests weren't exactly fair, as the kingdom had only just undergone a major tragedy and the people demanded justice. Thus, to keep face, the wizards deemed almost all of them easily corruptible risk-factors to the safety of the kingdom, and declared that they should be executed. Dalyar was among the few that king Fergus Sunshimmer III personally set free, having seen glimpses of good still remaining within them.   The silver dragon spent the next few years living with the others north of the mountains and watched as the once proud race collapsed. The metallic ones of Bahamut went into deep depression and regret, mulling over the events of the war and the fact that they'd been so easily corrupted. The chromatic ones saw this banishment as a great injustice; some still harbored loyalty to Voraci due to the grand promises she had given while others simply harbored hatred for the slain and executed members of their kind, but all in all they were too weak to really fight anymore. Dalyar hated this completely unproductive environment of gloom and eventually decided to leave that life behind and return south. As a humanoid form is something that comes very naturally to silver dragons, he assumed the form of a high elf who by his tale had traveled to Fitchview from the elven lands of Edheltol. He added a made up family name, Celebras, which originates from the elven words celeb and rama, or silver and wing. This obvious connection has lead to him being discovered a few times by particularly observant members of the community during the years, but it never caused real trouble.

Recent times

These days, Dalyar is in a peculiar position. Should he reveal the truth, he likely wouldn't be hunted down like three centuries ago, but it would be unnecessary potentially negative publicity. Some of the dragons of the north who know him, consider him almost a traitor for abandoning their kind. Recently, he has become sort of an ambassador between the two peoples, helping negotiate an alliance in response to the demon threat.
