The Tribe of the Ever-Standing

The sand glimmered brightly as I formed the final brick, meaning that Takk himself was proud of our achievement. Our new home is complete! It only took the dreams of a hopeful tribe, a powerful Dunecaster and chief, and a curious fennec. I remember standing on the top of the fort, conversing with Tenna, a small, vulpine woman. “The problem with you humans is that you only try to appease your god. You do not try to provoke change, which is precisely why enjoy your tribe’s company. You want progress, but you still think like humans.”

I replied, admitting that we did not build this for reasons of scientific progression, only as a new method of protecting our people. She laughed but said no further.

I am carving this into the walls of this very fortress for when my tribe no longer walks these lands, instead lying peacefully beneath the sand.

Peace. It is in short supply for us these hours. The other tribes do not seem happy with our decision, and we would seem outnumbered had Takk not been on our side.

The Tribe of the Ever-Standing is the name given to a minor tribe of Takk'ona who historians believe were the seed that started the revolt against the corrupted facet Takk. They went against their people's nomadic lifestyle and settled in a single spot, building a small sandstone tower to signify their decision.   The tribe was later destroyed and scattered by a larger tribe who believed they were going against the will of Takk. The settlement was assaulted and most of the warriors were slain, but the tower remained. Writing was discovered a generation later on the inside of the tower's walls detailing the fall of the nameless tribe.   The remains of the tribe spread to other tribes or simply lived alone until they died, but all of them remained strong for their beliefs, sowing seeds of distrust and revolt against their own deity.
