Fire Lord

Guarding the Volcano Ring is the Brotherhood of Flames and heading this powerful organization is the Fire Lord.

Qualifications

To become the Fire Lord one must be a member of the Brotherhood of Flames, and they must be elected by the other members of the Brotherhood.

Appointment

The Fire Lord comes to power through an intricate election system. From the day that the old fire lord dies each of the covens have two weeks to elect a representative from among the number of their ranks. The representative is than presented by their coven chief to the chiefs of the other covens (the exception to this may be if the representative from the seventh coven is engaged in necessary field assignments). After this the representatives can visit the other covens so that the other members can get to know them. The representatives have one month for the journeys, and after this month the covens will vote for who they want as the new Fire Lord.There is one stipulation in this election: nobody is able to vote for the member from their own coven. This is done to prevent the larger covens from dominating the elections, and makes it necessary for the representatives to visit the other covens. At the end of the voting the person with the most votes is anointed Fire Lord by the chiefs of the covens.

Duties

There are several duties that come with the position. The most important of these is in the event of a volcanic eruption, their job is the coordinate the immediate evacuation of the area and determine when it is safe to return. They must also organize the reconstruction of their headquarters. 
Other duties include the acceptance into the brotherhood of new members, as well as their new assignments in the covens. He is also to begin the gauntlet that determines whether a person is able to join the brotherhood.
He is also in charge of making sure that each of the covens have the necessary supplies to conduct their operations. In the case of a major conflict the Fire Lord is expected to lead the Brotherhood into battle.
