Treasonous Angels Organization in Slumbering Gods | World Anvil

Treasonous Angels

AKA Demons

Demons are rebellious Messengers or treasonous angels. It is important to note that Demons are not Fallen Angels. Demons are against the gods, while Fallen Angels are not. Demons do not respect the gods in any way, and want with all their being to have the gods destroyed, killed, or hurt in some horrid way.   The reasons for becoming a Demon are very simple. "Do you hate the gods?" "You do?" "Well, welcome to a place where you can (un)healthily take out your anger on the gods."

Structure

Demons do not work together. Demons can come together and plan the downfall of the gods, however Demons are not an exact organization with rules and leaders. All Demons have basic ideas and beliefs about the gods, but how they execute their beliefs differ.   However, there is some undebated and/or unofficial rule that some Demons follow, which is essentially the oldest Demon is the leader. But sometimes it is simply the most zealous Demon. It really depends on the group of Demons.

Culture

Demons are competetive in and among themselves. There is constant arguing and competitions that say who the "best" demon is. (Some competitions have even been held to officially decide.) Even though Demons can fight often, somtimes killing or severly harming the another in the process, this fighting and arguing can actually bring the Demons together. (Or tear them apart. The results have yet to come in.)   When it comes to belief ther eare two main ones. Some believe that gods are unfit to rule the world and they simply want the gods gone, but they don't themselves want to be gods. And others don't just believe that the gods are unfit to rule, but that they should rule thinking they would be better.   But, even though there is frequnt fights, Demons work extremely well together. They can communicate quickly and organize attacks on the gods without much time to prepare. The thing that brings Demons together is an absolute stubborn hate to the gods.   Demons struggle to see the goodness in The World or in the gods. They have a way of zeroing in on the evilness and horridness of the gods, and they miss the good things the gods do. They do not see the kind side of mankind, all they see are the gods corrupting namkind. Demons only seem to see everything in a negative light and blame everything on the gods.

Public Agenda

The Demons are not in the public eye very often. The gods are furious with these angels, and do everything they can to bring them back under their reign. This being said, Demons can look human. An angels wings do not have to always be visible. So if a human is silently promoting the killing of the gods, it is probably a Demon.   The Demons main goal is to simply get rid of the gods. Nothing less. The angels have been subjected to the gods for centuries. Angels were created by one of the gods specifically for the purpose of servitude. Of course, one rebelled and about one-third of the other angels and Messengers followed.   The why of everything is two things. One is jealousy. Some angels hate the fact that the gods are more powerful and more important than them, even though they do all the work. Organizing the party, sending out letters and sharing messages, but the Messengers never get any credit. The second is hate. Some angels just hate the gods. They can have a reason, but they just hate the gods, and at that point it almost does not matter why.

Assets

There are three things that Demons have that most gods do not. First, Demons know how to communicate quickly and efficiently to every Demon. Gods cannot and do not do that. Although gods may have strength in numbers, they do not talk to every god on a consistent basis, which can make it seem strange if you get a message from a god you've never talked to. Also gods are naturally suspicious of everyone and everything, so that does not help.   The second thing is that Demons agree. It only takes a few seconds for a group of Demons to decide what they are going to do and how they are going to do it. Gods cannot do that. Demons are fast planners and quick thinkers, while some gods can be just a little slow.   The third thing that Demons have is the ability to talk to humans. Although some gods wish they were human, they are still gods and they do not interact with mankind very often, particularly after the Treaty of Deraphan. The Demons, however, live among humans and know how they act. (Mostly because there was nowhere else to flee after they rebelled.)

History

The rebellion of the Angels began with one man, Lefikaj (LE-fi-kaj). He was a Messengers and he rebelled against his Master, Entity. He convinced another third of the Messengers and angels to rebel. Lefikaj and his men left becoming fallen angels, eventually being known as Demons.   A war has been happening between these two groups for centuries. The first battle they fought, the Demons lost. The gods were a step ahead and most of the Demons were killed. The ones left prepared a different strategy, and they started a war between the gods and mankind.   Men and god fought for several years. Eventually, there was peace for mankind. The gods were soon after attacked by the Demons. And the gods almost lost. The war between the two heavenly beings was so big and catastrophic that mankind noticed. Every now and then a building would collapse, or a vender would feel a large gust of wind, when the trees were not moving.   The gods nearly lost that war, but the Demons retreated, but they did not surrender. When the rulers of The World saw what the gods had done to their world, they called a meeting with Entity and Being. That was when another war broke out among humanity and the gods.   After a repeating of this pattern for several years, mankind and the gods came to an agreement and this agreement was called the Treaty of Deraphan. This treaty forced the gods to stay in the heavens, and to never come to The World. However one god failed to keep this treaty, and once he payed for his crime, the Demons pounced. The punishment for the god was to be stripped of his godhood and become a human.    The Demons were very persuasive with the human rulers, and convinced the rulers to sign another treaty with Being and Entity. This additional treaty forced every god into a slumber. That made every god vulnerable for an attack. And now for the past several hundred years the Demons have been killing off the gods, one by one.
