Mokso

The southernmost continent-sized island is Mokso. Mokso is a place of rules, regulations, and anarchy. Everything in the country is tallied and filed away and someone is always trying to disrupt it. This country is the worlds leading supplier of paper, and most of that paper goes into endless forms and policies. Mokson merchants are the most accurate, but also the slowest to count coin. These rules can be so complex that inefficiency is a part of life.   Mokson itself is the flattest island which contains a society. In the summer months, the land is unbearably hot and the winters are deathly cold. Great plains are trampled by huge herds of bovines. No mountains, but a few hills are scattered throughout the land. The farmlands of Mokson are strange in comparison to others lands. They are all fended with limestone and wire, but also are formed in strange geometric shapes. Oddly shaped rectangles, octagons, and even stranger angles are not uncommon on large plains. This is because the rules of land distribution are so needlessly complicated that they result in inefficient. Farmland must be so far from a tree, they must be accessible from the roads, but also not too accessible, and a multitude of other rules. These strange shapes of farmland give the impression of a surreal and chaotic land when seen from afar.

Military

A Mokson soldier joins the military for two reasons. The first is to gain the benefits of a 5-year service. These benefits include land, a loan to build a home, and the right to vote. The second reason is to pay off debt to the government. Something almost everyone has a bit of. Those who stay in the military eventually rank up. The method of advancement within this military is through time or by a superior filling the right forms. After 5 years of service, a soldier may be released or they may continue their military career.   Mokson soldiers are the only allowed to carry firearms. They are given them by using a credits system. A soldier gains credits over time, which can be traded in for gear. Fire arms, armor, special equipment, and even clockwork automatons are samples of what are purchased with this credit.

Mokson Rails

Throughout the land of Mokso, is a complex series of rails which guide the worlds first and largest train system. Unlike Krithian and Vadathan trains, these rails are all interconnected. These rails support five large trains, which follow a complex and confusing route to avoid each other. These trains transfer people and goods throughout Mokso and are considered one of the marvels of Himinil.

Mokson Anarchists

Because of the confusing and complex rules structure that Mokso follows, many of the people are oppressed and their lives can be ruined by these laws. In recent years, many people who have felt betrayed by their land have grouped together as the Mokson Anarchists. They seek to destabilize the government and to replace the rules and idiotic structure with a more anarchy based system. Most of their actions are not deadly, only destroying a few machines or robbing banks. However, there are a few extremists who do cause destruction and kill. These extremists have given them a bad name, and Mokso replies with their own force.   Despite this, more and more people are joining the Anarchists. Currently, the country is on the brink of civil war. One major event could tip the tides and plunge the land into a long bloody war.

Government

Mokson is ruled by a council of thirteen representatives of the land. This group is called The Fourteen. The fourteenth member is supposed to represent the common people. Each and every one of them has stabbed a few people in the back to get to where they are, some literally. These thirteen create the laws of the land. They are responsible for the chaotic and bureaucratic nature of Mokso. They have a silent agreement to create such laws in order to hide the corruption within their own system. These thirteen are also the wealthiest people in Mokso.   The Fourteen each have a section of Mokso they have greater control over. These districts each have minor differences between them. Different order of bureaucratic dealings and slightly different regulations. Within each of these districts is several business owners, merchants, and union leaders which directly work with the member of the Fourteen which controls that district.   The Mokson Police force is one of the most regulated and controlled organizations in Mokso. Each District has its own police force and they are specifically trained to keep track of the complicated rules of Mokso. Since the police force has a better understanding of the laws than most people, they tend to be well off and are generally morally corrupt.   Mokso's goal is whatever the goals of the Fourteen are at any given moment. The Fourteen constantly thirst for more power, trying to find ways to take all of Mokso without resulting in a war. So any foreign deals and projects worked on by Moksons usually benefit a member of the Fourteen, either directly or indirectly.

Power

Mokso creates long lasting and efficient machinery and clockwork. Because of this their airships and weapons are sought after the most. Aside from this, Mokso also has a large amount of food that it produces. this amount is enough to fee Mokso well enough, but should their lands be used efficiently their food output could potentially double.

Apearance

A Mokson, as they are called, are generally a pale, thin-faced people. They keep their hair cut shore most of the time but grow straight black hair. It is rare for a Mokson to have hair other than black, or for them to grow facial hair other than thick sideburns or a mustache.

Personality and Mannerism

Among all the cities of Himinil, the Mokson cities are the quietest. A Mokson is usually soft-spoken. Speaking only when they need to, and usually softly. Stereo-typically, they are stern, cold, and humorless. Mokson’s make good butlers and servants, and shrewdly efficient nobles or crime lords. However, they can be kind   This is not to say that Moksons do not know how to have a good time. There are many who love to play music on their string instruments, dance the night away, and drink their homemade alcohal until they pass out. Wild Ostrich rangling, elephant tiping, and ostrich racing are a few things Moksons do to have fun.

Family Names in Mokso were originally determined by occupation, such as Smith. Other names were chosen from lineage. The son of Andrew became Anderson for example.

Shared customary codes and values

Mokso follows a strict and complex rule system. This has instilled a habit of sorts into Moksons. This habit is that Moksons usually double check everything. If they are given instructions, they make sure they understand the rules as much as possible. This can give them an impression of being slow, but this social stigma allows them to be very accurate.

Ideals

Mokson beauty is best described as plain. They wear simple colors and minimal jewelry. Whites, browns, and blacks are common colors, and most dresses are a single color. Most clothing is designed for function before form. Common clothing is sturdy and thick. Designed to last.

Gender Ideals

This society is more strict in its gender and sexuality ideas than others. Women are oppressed, thought to be best in the home to support a husband. Any not standard relationships or ideas are extremely frowned upon and sometimes leads to violence. However, lately, the Mokson Anarchists have been accepting all genders, races, and sexualities in their fold. Women in the Anarchists are treated equally and there are many who support the Anarchists subtly. Such as packaging bad food for Mokson soldiers or hiding supplies for Anarchists.

Courtship Ideals

Marriage in Mokso is decided by the man. It is up to a Woman's father if she can marry. This means most marriages are done to strengthen both families.
