Meuclont Spiders

In Meuclont, an assassin can be found in every tavern. "Accidents" are a common occurrence in the city. The Meuclont Spiders are one of the few assassin organizations in the city. Nine in ten Spiders are female and every one of them can kill anyone in at least a dozen ways. The Spiders excel in acrobatics and moving quickly through the city. They use a myriad of clockwork tools and creative tactics to take down their targets.   When a standard assassin would accept a contract based on difficulty and price, the Meuclont Spiders require an understanding of what the client gains from the assassination. A Spider will not assassinate anyone for the sake of grief, anger, or spite. The information given to the spiders is kept, allowing the Spiders to keep track of the power of various people.

Structure

There are three levels in the organization. The first and lowest is a spiderling. These are the apprentices. Usually, an apprentice is gained from a member of the Spiders seeing potential in an orphan or through payment for a service.   Spiderlings train in the jungles. Early on, they are given simple tasks to perform. Such as "Steal someones bread while wearing this bell," or "Kill a rat using this specific tool." As the spiderling gains experience and skill, the tasks given are more and more dangerous. The first assassination is usually given to a spiderling after two years in the organization. This is observed by their superiors to make sure all is well. Once a spiderling has flawlessly performed ten missions in a row without help, they graduate to an Arachnid.   Arachnids are the next level of the Spiders. They are full members of the organization and are given their own rooms, their own set of tools, and are allowed to choose their own contracts. Arachnids train Spiderlings. Once a Web Sister votes in an Arachnid, they upgrade to the next level.   Web Sisters are the leaders of the organization. They do not need to take any contracts, as they are paid a portion of arachnid and spiderling contracts. The Web Sisters job is to keep the public and law from stopping what they do. They mingle with nobles and crime lords in order to keep favor with them. A Web Sister also makes any financial or major decisions for the Spiders as a whole.

Public Agenda

The Spiders of Meuclont want to grow to the point they do not have to hide. Becoming a legitimate operation is not an easy task, but with the right amount of money and power, they can claim to be a "mercenary" group. However, they have several rivals which try to keep them down and recruiting Spiderlings is a slow proccess.

Assets

The Spiders of Meuclont train their acrobatic skills every day. They learn balance, how to fall, and how to use a height advantage correctly. The Spiders also have a female gnome that supplies them with equipment. The primary clockwork tools they use is a hook-like device that allows them to ascend and descend cables with ease. Other tools they use is trip wires, garrotes, clockwork spider bombs, and your standard knives.

History

The Spiders of Meuclont began when a group of ex-military deserters joined forces in Meuclont. The original members used to act as monkeys aboard airships. They learned that the skills they were given did not help much in city life, so they carved their own path with their experience and skills.
