Fae survival Guide

So you have a problem. You are a Fae, Gnarled, or something else that wants to survive in the wonderful world of Himinil. Luckily for you, this pamphlet will tell you exactly how to do so! I am a Fae who was made by a long-dead witch. Luckily for me, I do not have it too bad. Its only when I touch things they shrivel and die. By spending years traveling, talking to other Fae, and trying my best to survive, I found the knowledge that this pamphlet will give you. It is no doubt an illegal piece of paper. So, if you find this make as many copies as possible, add information, and spread it to other Wyrd.   It is important to go over some terminology. Anything Fae, Gnarled, Stringless, Cultish, or whatever other forms of strange this world spits out will be classified as a Wyrd for the purposes of this information. We are going to split the Wyrd into three categories.   Minor Wyrd: A Minor Wyrd is a Wyrd that looks mostly human or has manageable powers. If this is you, be thankful. Simply cover anything strange. If you have small horns, wear a hat. The power to talk to birds? Just don't. You can probably ignore the majority of this pamphlet.   Standard Wyrd: The Standard Wyrd has very noticeable deformities and uncontrollable powers. An example would be cloven hooves instead of feet or causing snakes to pour from your mouth when you vomit. You will have some struggles. Get used to hiding, lying, and avoiding people. Trust me, it is better to not trust anyone.   Dire Wyrd: If this is you, I am so sorry. The Dire Wyrd are impossible to hide. They are giants, loud, have strange auras, or are literally unable to lie. You will need to learn to fight. Get a gun if you have too, and get to the Flock as quickly as possible.

Some general tips for surviving

  • Find and use the black market and various smuggler routes. It sucks, but you are a criminal just for being you.
  • Avoid people. A friendly person is probably friendly with the inquisition.
  • Avoid the Church at all costs.
  • Do not fall in love. It does not work. Trust me.
  • Know who to trust. Find Wyrd communities, but do not stay long.
  • Never. Stop. Moving.

Where is safe?

The answer is nowhere. Though, there are places that are less dangerous than others.

Safe Skies

The Unkind Skies: This is the safest place for Wyrd. It is ruled by a witch and made of freaks.   Bitter Winds: This place is technically safe. Some Vadathans will treat you like shit, but at least it is considered murder to kill a Fae in Vadath.   Stormy Sky: You are probably alright here if you can stand the pirates. They are often just as weird as the wyrd.   Jeweled Sky: There are so many places to hide here that it is difficult to find even a normal person, let alone a Fae.

Neutral Skies

Broken Expanse: This sky is filled with hiding places. However, inquisitors often move through this sky.   Sky Below: The Auscians are strange. There is a small chance that they will burn a Fae at the stake. As a general rule, if they have a church, move on.   Searing Clouds: They are often too busy playing with their metal to notice you are Wyrd. Keep your head down and help the community and they might leave you be.

Dangerous Skies

Noble Clouds: This is the source of your troubles. Inquisitors around every corner and mobs of people just itching to take out their frustrations on the Wyrd. If you find yourself here, stay in the slums. Wear heavy cloth as well. It is easier if you pretend to be sick.   Silver Clouds: This place is run by a military organization which is very thorough in finding things that do not belong. Do not stay here long.   Umbral Skies: These people string up nonwyrd. Wyrd stand no chance, but luckily they are not the brightest people and are easily tricked.   Cloudless Desert: It is very difficult to avoid the Church in this sky, even if it is different. Ohanzee inquisitors are notoriously persistent.   Windy Wilds: This place is just as bad as the Noble Clouds. Though, you might be able to find friends with the anarchists.

How to find food, water, shelter, and the like?

The easiest way to survive is to scavenge, hunt, and grow your own food. If you are in the wilds, do this. Otherwise, get used to stealing. Some places have wyrd friendly people or minor wyrd who will buy your supplies. Never stay in someones home, and do not steal anything valuable. That just brings attention to you. Mercenary work is good if you can find someone willing to hire you. As a Wyrd, you can charge more than normal. Even if your power is not that useful, pretend it is.   Another way to make money is by joining a circus. I personally hate the idea, but some Wyrd find comfort in grouping together. Though, make sure you fit in. Every circus is different. I have been tossed out of a few.
