Wall Worker

Oval Matolem

Oval Matolem was born, raised, and trained in the innards of sector 5. He is often described by his peers as a night owl and as such has the latest shift of the simulated day in Skeyer. In his early career as an engineer on the wall, Matolem suffered a workplace accident where another worker had knocked loose a part of paneling that put him out of work for a time. When he was put back to work he was moved to another section of wall higher up with the intention of preventing another injury. Over the following several years, he studied and took notes on the fatigue that occurs from heavy attention based workloads, and he created a workers group that ran a couple sessions a month to educate other wall workers on ways to combat the attentional fatigue that came with constantly reviewing and maintaining the same section of wall over the period of their eight hour shifts. The sessions he teaches are usually during the morning shifts due to their occurrence shortly after his work period ends.   Matolem is a person who prides himself in his work, believing that despite his lack of power in society he is still performing his societal duty to aid the people of Skeyer and their ideal vision of home. Contrary to this belief, Matolem prevents himself from becoming involved in domestic issues and criminal activities as it is not his place to do so but instead that of the Feudal Lords. This mindset appears to be prevalent in his attitude towards the Ekonians. With sector 5 being several sector's away from where the Ekonians arrived in Skeyer, he generally ignores their existence since they do not have much direct influence on his daily life outside of the occasional rumor or snippet of news. Like others in Skeyer, Matolem also has some concerns over what their distribution of the Essence could have in regards to religious connotations, and if prompted will get into a debate over why they might hold such divine power.
