Skala

The gods are dead, or may as well be. Nearly seven centuries since the divine was unceremoniously severed from the material the world terries on. In that time, there has been a revolution, both industrial and magical. Grand flying machines lumber through the skies and billowing contraptions of arcane science travel in both the cities and countryside.   In the place of the gods, the conduits have risen. Immortal, and wielding power beyond the ken of the common folk, these ascended beings act as paragons of their ideals. They supply power to those who would follow them, and some would seek the destruction of those who oppose them.   But this is only one consequence of the great planar shift that was Wheel's End. With the inner planes cut off from the outer, a slow decay has begun that has only just started to show its breadth. More undead rise with each passing day. Ghosts haunt their former homes for the most mundane of reasons. The flow of souls to the afterlife has been cut off, and the dead have no where else to go.   This decay of the natural order has led to two alliances. One focused on stemming the tide of undead and developing new technologies to bring balance to the new planar structure. The other seeks to adapt to the new order, taming the undead and embracing undeath themselves.
