The Obsidian Shard Myth in Sithean Mohr Silva | World Anvil

The Obsidian Shard

Stories of a shard black as the nights in the Scáth Réimse are whispered through the Faoi Thalamh. Some believe it is part of the World Shard that was broken during the creation of the realms. Some believe it is the black tooth from an ancestral shadow dragon that retains the wisdom and power of the mighty being it came from.   Whatever it is, everyone agrees it holds terrifying power. Treasure hunters often go on expeditions throughout the Faoi Thalamh tunnels looking for it. The few who have returned from such expeditions come back empty handed, with broken spirits from the horrors of the dark underground cities and pathways of the Unseelie courts. There are whispers that Necturh the Goblin King has been sending groups of his people into the spider web of caves surrounding his territory looking for The Obsidian Shard, believing that once he has it he can finally end the Eladrin hold on Mohr Silva. When the Island of Astrazalian fades from Mohr Silva for 4 moons of the year Necturh increases his search parties, taking advantage of the lack of Eladrin interference.   The Eladrin have paid little attention to the madness of searching for such a myth over the last 100 years or so. In the farther depths of the forests though, there are murmurs that Seelie knights in their silver leaf armor have been seen entering the caves of Faoi Thalamh. Whispers that the Summer Queen is also silently looking for The Shard have been slowly trickling through the forests branches, but no one from the Primeval Forest will address the tales as anything but lowly gossip.
