The earliest recorded history lies in Ondath'Cinna, with an official document detailing the first council of the elders being established in the forest of peace.
Shortly after the Twilight King rose a cataclysmic event in Telenholm wiped the country off the map. The world plunges into chaos as wave after wave of Demonic warband clash with the armies of mortal men.
After the mortal realms united against the Demon onslaught they were able to contain them to the fallen kingdom of Telenholm.
With the Fall long forgotten the mortal realms started to fall apart, with internal strife and political intrigue driving the people and the lands apart.
With the High King of Demoran disappearing in the wake of a Demonic invasion two years earlier, the Archmage of the Technical University of Magic, Engineering and Avionics tries to grab power off of the priesthood.
The city of Verslun, where free trade rules, feels an opportunity rise with the chaos in Demoran, with a civil war raging between what is left of the clergy of Pelniira and the Iron Will mining guild. Through shrewd political play the merchants council of Verslun finds their way into the lands and supports the Iron Will in their grasp for power. Once successful in the year 507 the Council moves in to replace the guild’s leading elite and declares their own city and the lands they now control an independent nation from Lequinet. Lequinet immediately declares war on Verslun, condemning any that would still do business with the rogue state.
With the loss of a direct connection through Enyaltelen it is unclear what is happening in Telenholm until a bright spire of light is seen erupting from where once Gaiminar stood. The gash in the veil has been made more stable by Zahaziel and he is strengthening his hordes in the desert wastelands. Scholar are speaking of a new age and the prophesied second fall. To signify the change the lands are renamed Emvailanga by academics. The name is based on their limited knowledge of Abyssal and is a rough translation of ‘The Fallen Land’.
A new council of elders is appointed in Ondath’Cinna. They make a bold statement, that the threat of Demoran remains in the form of Destor. The Sûlor army strikes hard and fast at the heart of the young nation. Key figures are taken out in rapid succession by assassinations and with the forest themselves being expanded northward they quickly claim back the lands lost in the Pyros rebellions over 1000 years ago. The country of Destor surrenders near the end of the year and gets absorbed into Ondath’Cinna. Many Dragonborn are killed in the short war. Those that remain are banished from the lands. Many choose to flee to Verslun and Lequinet. Negh'vada is sacked and left in ruins.
The Enyaltelen Nine, the council that resided in the city state, is dissolved. With no more support from the nine kingdoms, who are now more focused on their own domestic issues, the economy in the city state collapses. Residents are given a month to vacate the stronghold that had stood for 500 years as a bastion between the kingdoms of mortals and the demon hoards.
A Half-orc by the name of Dalleszand had been in charge of the largest orc warband in Telenholm for the past thirty years. With the renewed threat of the demonic hoards he finally found a focus for his warband and quickly absorbed other orc and goblinoid tribes into his roving band. Through bloody conquest he was even able to add some of the human stragglers in Telenholm to his ranks. Setting up his base of operations around the floodlands in the east he set out to meet the demons head on. Relishing in the never-ending fight. He has been able to push out against Zahaziel and his minions. Nobody knows exactly where the border between the two ‘nations’ lie. Being caught on any side of them is a terrible idea for any adventurer though.
The war between Lequinet and Verslun had been a cold one for the past twenty years. Scrimmages along the borders don’t push the effort in either direction. Lequinet knows it’s too much of a risk to go out into an all out war, this plays perfectly to Verslun’s strength. Nobody gains ground but then Verslun makes an unforeseen move. They finance a rising rebel force in Sebiya’s western quarter, lead by the Dwarven stronghold of Shieldridge. The threat of a marching army to their east makes Lequinet anxious. They scurry to make pacts with the dwarves, whose loyalty was already bought by Verslun. Sebiya’s ruling house reacts in the only way it knows how. It calls on it’s banner men and marches on the dissident Dwarven settlement. Dormark Maurr sees a perfect opportunity to strike back at Sebiya, having lost much of their mining grounds to the rupture 27 years earlier. They incite rebellion in the heart of the northeners and the bannermen from the north refuse to come to the capital’s aid. The moment of weakness is immediately seized upon by the Kingdom of Eneih as, in a bold move from an aging king, they seize control of a south-west province of Sebiya. What began as a war between Lequinet and Verslun deals a devastating blow to Sebiya and the house of Steray falls as the governing family in the land. The remaining feudal families decide to unite in a Federation, where each province keeps some semblance of control over their own government. The United Federation of Sebiya is born. A congress is set up in Ekeral to make up the new laws of this renewed nation. Both Sweldathrid and Hutzefirth want no part in the Federation and remain separated from their former homeland.
Even though not many humanoids resided in the Frozen Plains Nemya’s king Aegir had always taken it as a case of pride that they reigned over the piece of land, hunting the hulking beasts that did reside there. An ancient white dragon by the name of Zammorro claims the region as his home and reports of ice elementals and other glacial beasts rise in the region. Aegir, the ruling king of Nemya travels to the frozen plains unescorted. A deal is struck between the two ancient beings, they are both allowed to reign their lands and will come to each other’s aide in time of need but will steer clear of the resources in each other’s nations.
Ilwyni Illongau had long ago lost connection to its past glory as a forest elf nation. The druidic tribes on the northern islands held no more power over the southern island and the Triad of the islands were losing the trust of the population. Nearly 560 years after so graciously taking in refugees from the fallen kingdom of Tellenholm the druids of Ilwyni Illongau lost over half their country as they agreed to terms of independance with the southern island. The capital of Fflyd renamed their lands to the Republic of Meinir and pressed on their ideals of a chosen leader. Those who owned land elected a new president and together with an elected council they created a constitution, which echoed all those principles that had made Telenholm the free and welcoming country back before the fall. Primary of those is the concept that all sentient beings were created equal in the eyes of the Unity.
Much has happened over the past half century and it had taken Zahaziel a lot longer to establish his horde on the plains of Emvailanga. But by the year 563 his demons started showing up outside of the ancient fallen kingdom. Never quite clear where or when they would strike. Eneih, just like in the first Demonic Wars, takes the brunt of the assaults. But through their airborn and shipborn attacks the demons also strike out to the other nations. The unity that once was enough to strike back at the unending hordes had faltered. A foothold was found on the main landmass, south of Lequinet, west of Eneih. The war rages, entire cities burn in the wake of the demonic attacks. For the first time in over 500 years bands of Shieldback Dwarves set out from Goganraund to meet the demons in battle. The armies of the Twilight King’s bloodline clash with the hellish brutes from the underworld. Lequinet defends what is left of their free nation. Even the Sûlor wind sweeps across the plains outside of their solitary forest of peace.
