For those creatures that perish in the Shadowfell it's the most likely location they end up, depending of course on the judgement of The Arbiters. There are also a lot of Aelenur Elves that go here after passing, except for the ones that betrayed their patron deity and took up
Natural Resources
In the darkness of the Abyss enslaved souls toil day and night to extract the gems, metals and other natural resources that, in some cases, can only be found on this damned plane of existence.
