Forest Elves

According to the legends forest elves were created to reflect the natural beauty of Amska’ir. Their skins the colour of bark, their hair vibrant hues of green, pink and red. Upon aging they show even more similarities with the trees from which they were said to be created. Their skin grows thicker and starts showing cracks, their hair showing signs of withering, through hues of auburn and yellow to brown.   Their high, treetop houses breed a more nimble stock of elves, with their closeness to nature instilling in them innate wisdom and a connection unparalleled in other races. Most of the minds and houses in Forest Elven societies are open. Their knowledge and possessions shared with strangers and friends alike.

Artisans from both of these forest elven kingdoms are considered to be among the best in all the world and their wares are in high demand on the free trade market of Verslun, though few of the wares depart their respective lands in a legal manner. Leaf and animal patterns are a huge part of their aesthetic, especially overly complicated depictions of Amska'ir's symbol are a hallmark of true forest elven artistry.

Culture and Cultural Heritage

There are two places in this world where the forest elves dwell in large numbers, two groups that are largely unrelated to each other.   The Forest of Peace, known in the Elven tongue as Ondath’Cinna, is the largest of the two. They live their lives in service of the forest and the preservation of nature. Their entire society, including their military, focused on that singular goal. It is in this capacity that they also loathe most outsiders, especially the industrious Dragonborn from the former region of Demoran. Their tree homes are protected with an extensive infrastructure of magical portals.   On the other end of the continent, it was with a heavy heart that the Ilwyni Ilongau forest elves had to give quarter to the displaced population of the fallen kingdom of Telenholm. Failing to protect their woodland realm from the sudden influx of refugees, which slowly whittled away the ancient forest on the island kingdom. It is mostly in light of this failure that the Ondath'Cinna forest elves look down on the Ilwyni natives with disdain. The Ilwyni natives in turn look in despair to their southern island, lost not to a demonic invasion, but to a foreign invader nonetheless. This culminated in the declared independence of the Republic of Meinir. For the more conservative forest elves left on the broken island there is refuge on the northern island, which still holds on to the old name and tradition, under the guidance of the Archdruid of the land they keep at bay what five hundred years later they still view as a foreign population in their lands.
