Southern Vulborish Weather Patterns
Vulborish weather is harsh - just like its inhabitants. It's especially harsh in the southern half of the country. Temperatures that change between scorching hot during the day plummeting to almost freezing cold during the night, and sandstorms that will almost grind your skin off your body. There's almost no rain.
Winter
The winters in this area is the time when there's a chance for rain, but it doesn't happen every year. The temperatures are cooler than the rest of the year, but still warmer than a polar summer. At night the temperature can reach below freezing, but not by much.
When it first rains, though, the hard, dry earth is unable to soak up the sometimes vast amounts of water that might fall, and there is a risk of flash floods. Just after the rainfalls the desert will briefly bloom in many intense colors, before the flowers and plants will shrivel away and wait for the next rain.
Summer
The summers in southern Vulborim is scorching hot during daytime, and cold nights. There are almost never any clouds to cover the harsh, unforgiving sun. Only the occasional sandstorm will give some cover from the sun, but most people would rather suffer through a searing hot sunny day than getting sand into their nose, eyes, mouth and throat. No matter how harsh the heat from the sun is, it's less harsh than having trouble breathing due to a million grains of sand in the air.
How People Adapt
There are no humanoids that are made for the extreme weather conditions in southern Vulborim. Still, some people live in this area. Most of these people live either by the coast or along the river, while a very few live as nomads, setting up temporary camps by oases while travelling through.
Everyone who live or travel through this area is advised to dress for the weather. It's important to cover most of the body from the sun, but not in such a heavy fabric that it will be too hot. Light, airy fabrics are best, as long as they also close out the sun. It's also advised to have some protection against sandstorms in the form of scarves to breathe through, so the air can be filtered from sand before being used for breathing.
Reminds me of Dune. But there people had high- tech suits to recycle water and keep their bodies safe from sand. It's also interesting for me that it rains during the winter. Usually winters tend to be drier than summer. But let it rain, the poor plants may deserve some water.
I based the winter rain off of an article I found that said that some deserts have the most rainfall during the winter half of the year, and I saw a graph of the weather in Saudi Arabia that said that the weather was basically dry from jun-oct, and wettest in early spring, so I based it off that. Not sure if it's accurate, but it's canon in my world now, at least. xD
Thanks for the comment! And sorry it took me so long to reply - I've been on vacation for a week, and it's been super hard to get away from the family for long enough to be active on this site.
Nah, it's fine. Keep the good worK!
