My Summer Camp 2021 Worldbuilding Pledge Document
It's this time of the year again.
This will be my fourth Summer Camp, so I have a slight idea what I'm getting myself into. I'm just glad I won't be doing Summer Camp at the same time as I'm moving houses this year, like I did last year. That's an experience I'd rather not have to go through again... (0/10, won't recommend.)
Which project are your worldbuilding efforts tied to?
I guess I could tie my Summer Camp articles to a specific project. I mean, I have six or seven prose projects in various states of "not started yet" to "the first draft is done, but needs polishing". Yet, my Summer Camp success for the past years have been heavily relying on the freedom to just roll with the prompts with no real boundaries or focus.
That's why I won't limit myself to one specific project.
What world are you working on?
My main world is Shireon, so I think most of the articles will be there. However, it is tradition to make at least one article for my pet project, Mew World.
What'll go where won't be decided until I start writing each prompt.
Which area of the world(s) are you working on?
I won't decide on any focus area before the prompts are released. If I decide to focus on something it will be decided from the ideas I get from the prompts. Additionally, I'll treat this focus more as a guideline than an actual rule.
I've found out that the best way for me to get a focus area for Summer Camp is to make some articles, then try to connect several prompts together with those articles. This connection might be several things, like a location, culture or organization.
How much are you aiming to complete?
This depends on how my health holds up during July. My initial goal is to go for diamond, but my energy levels aren't the best. I won't be hard on myself for however many prompts I finish if I can't go for diamond.
When will you write?
As I will be working all July, my worldbuilding schedule will naturally be restricted to the afternoons on weekdays and whenever I feel like it during weekends. I will, however, try my best to not go all out and not take breaks this Summer Camp, so I'll have to be careful about ending up worldbuilding all day every weekend.
Who is your support network?
The first part of my support network is my husband, who is a great source of ideas and will start pestering me if I stay up too long.
Then there is the wonderful World Anvil community, and especially the small "gangs" inside it that I chat most with.
Article Banners
As per tradition, I made a new Summer Camp banner for this year's articles. This year's banner is the one used for this article. Here you can enjoy the two former ones in all their glory:

Do I have to?
Okay, Shireon is a mess. And when I say it's a mess, I mean it. I'm in the middle of a complete renovation of my world, so the current category layout looks like this:
I was thinking about not doing this part of the homework, just because it would take so much work. But my world is an uncategorized mess of almost 500 articles so it's a too good opportunity to pass. And better to do it now than to struggle with it during Summer Camp, after all. So I sat down for a few hours and made a bunch of categories.

Well, this is a thing I'm probably not going to prepare, since I have no idea what kind of images I'll need. This depends so much on the prompts that I can't go out and search for pictures now, and speaking of experience I generally don't spend that much time looking for pictures anyways. So instead of looking for pictures now that I probably won't use, I'll just do what I've always done.
Laying It Out
For me, this becomes too much planning.
Good luck! :D We'll be cheering you on, no matter how many prompts you manage to get done! :)
