Kassila Community Hall

Considering the size of the village of Kassila the Community Hall was a grand building. Even when not considering the village's size, the design and architecture of the building was impressive. The beautiful wood carvings and the amount of wood used in an area where there's generally very few trees is also impressive.

Purpose / Function

The Kassila Community Hall was made as a place where the villagers could meet during holidays, marriages and other events where people meet.

Architecture

The building itself was mostly made of wood, which had to be imported from areas not so high in the mountains. The wall's lowest half meter is made out of stones from the mines, while the rest is wood. It's an uncharacteristic choice of materials for Kassila, seeing that the rest of the buildings were mostly made of stone.

The edge of the rooftop has beautifully carved wolf heads sticking out.

The interior was made out of three rooms - the main hall, the kitchen and the store room. The main hall was large, able to contain the whole population of Kassila and then some. In the middle of the room there was a large fire pit to keep the room warm in the harsh Inmali winter. The store room contained enough tables and chairs to have room for a bit more than the Kassila population. The kitchen had enough gear and room to comfortably produce food for about fifty people.

History

The Community Hall was built just as the mining operations in Kassila started to really take off. There were enough people living in the tiny little village to need a building like this. Considering how harsh the deepest parts of winter is in Inmalenor, especially up in The Winter Wall it was important to have a place where the whole village could meet and keep warm during the freezing cold of midwinter.

Destruction

The Community Hall burned down together with Kassila in 2073. As the village burned down during a harvest festival, most of the population was burned to death inside the Community Hall. Some people were found other places, even outside, which strengthened the theory that it wasn't an accident, but someone who put buildings and people on fire on purpose.
