Middle bourghs Fair

Mysteriously, an entire city has lost its inhabitants overnight     The city of middleboroughs fair has always been a nice tidy place. Rather quiet, a little bit of crime, a little bit of prosperity, A little bit of a lot of things. Average was a word people middle boroughs fair used with pride to describe their city. Now to call someplace average would assume that it offers nothing out of the ordinary but everyone knows that every city has some great thing or attraction. The one outstanding thing about their city was the great clock tower. A huge tower in the center of town, gazes over its city with 4 great clock faces. everything else seemed to sprawl outwards from this pinical with all road eventually leading back to it and every buildiung having at least one window looking apon one of the clocks. Made of dark polished stone, set in very perfect lines, it has a feel of order. That mechanical brilliance of every part moving in order and achieving great things from simple parts.   All was well in the city until one night the clock struck midnight. Now this is not an unusual occurrence, in fact it had happened every night since anyone could remember. But this night something happened. For all living creatures who heard the tolling of the bell seemingly disappeared.       Deaf person still lives in town - no idea what happened to any one else is sad due to missing friends and family(is a little bit mad ) Occasionally other people have stayed in the town. Any that stay over night and HEAR the bell toll also disappear   Clock seems to function correctly. No dust or signs of decay affect it at all. There are stairs leading up inside of it. But to reach the clock they need to be walked up for 1000 years. Walking back down at any point gets back the ground floor after one twist of the stairs. (spiral stair case) once inside the door of the ground floor things outside seem muted colours less vibrent sounds much softer etc. nothing directly noticeable but things out side just seem less substancial less important. (Much like how the forst doesnt care about a single tree falling over. Intime more will come and go in its place.) despite being directly below the clock the tolling of the bell cant be heard and thus no one will disappear from it if they are inside the tower   People who hear
