Countryhumans
Countryhumans are a species unique to Shattered World. They share a lot of traits that are similar to humans, including anatomy, intelligence, and social systems. Unlike normal humans, the skin of a Countryhuman is that of the flag of the personified country. They are also born with wings. This species has a lot of sub-species that link back to it, including half-wolves and half-dragonflies. They are not very technologically advanced. Culture can vary from group to group, with a lot of groups being multi-cultural. They are mostly peaceful, with in-fighting happening more often than most of this species would want, sometimes leading to all-out wars. Things such as weapons, clothing, and housing are made from materials found in their environment, or from hunting. They can be found all across Shattered World. Countryballs can be found following this species around, with making the species domestic a very controversial topic, with some supporting the idea, others saying it should be taboo. In the spring and summer, they migrate, following hunting routes and trails. In fall and winter, they stay in towns and villages. They migrate in flocks, which vary. Some flocks are only Half-Bird or Half-Dragon, while others are a mix of the two groups. Erika will join up with a flock that passes by her cabin on migration back to the towns and villages for the fall and winter. There are two main groups, along with a third minor group: Half-Bird, Half-Dragon, and Neutral. Half-Bird and Half-Dragon fight a lot, with a lot of lives lost from it. Erika von Schmidt, an important historical figure and explorer, is part of the group Neutral, being one of the first Countryhumans to be born with Dragonfly wings. She has made a call for peace between the two groups, saying more fighting could lead to the downfall of the Countryhuman species, and possible extinction, with people from all three groups agreeing and supporting her.
