The Temples of Forgiveness

Purpose / Function

The Temples are both a place for the truly devout to pray to the The Sleeping Triumvirate  that created Byvarhan, but also the only place to remove the divine curse of the Shade-Marks. Many die on the way to the temples, but those who survive are rewarded by the purging of the curse, and a request of their choice granted by the gods for the trouble placed upon them.

Alterations

Since its original discovery by the Stonecutters, The nobility of Sin-Nasir has used the temple as a staging ground to show off their piety through the ages. In the current day, it features a large glowing fungal garden, colorful mosaics adorning each of the seven original building, upgraded amenities for both new arrivals and the priests, and the most recent addition is a 30-feet tall statue of Petra Gemcutter.

Architecture

The Sleeping Triumvirate built the Temple in a very modest set of seven white quartz buildings, one for each part of the process to remove the Shademarks, and an eighth to hold the arrivals.

History

The Temple is one of the earliest buildings in Byvarhan, as part of the purpose of creating a perfectly defensible, and culturally ready civilization that would be ready to defend against the Corruption of the Prima Materia. One part of that is to ensure that the population knows not to care for those infected by the Prima Materia. The Tenebrae is to represent the heavily mutated Corrupted while the slowly spreading Shade-Marks was created to represent the spreading mutations of the Corruption in its early stages.   Of course, the Gods are not so cruel as to condemn those Marked to a slow torturous death simply because they were unlucky enough to survive an attack by the Tenebrae. The Temple near the center of Byvarhan is one of the only structures that is mirrored on both sides of the Hemispheres.
