The tree of harmony

The Tree of Harmony is a beautiful silver tree covered in tiny clear gems. In the center where the trunk becomes branches there rests a large purple gem. On five of its branches five other gems rest, a pink one, a yellow one, a blue one, a red one, and an orange one. Each can only be taken from the tree by those that exemplify the trait that gem represents.
At least thats what it used to look like. Now the tree is a dark poisoned thing. The Zebra found six members who fit these requirements and stole the gems causing the tree to weaken and begin dying. As blight poured in from the waters above they further tainted the tree but now sustain it. Its silver bark is now dull and laced with veins of the black, red, and purple fluid and flows within the tree. The forest around it is now filled with twisted monstrosities and the cave is a sacred site to those who worship all forms of blight.

Purpose / Function

The Tree of Harmony served as a place of power that gave the ponies the ability to defend their lands for the millennia following the disappearance of the 6 heroes known as the pillars of hope. In time it grew six gems each representing a different element of harmony. Using these gems numerous impossible foes have been brought to their knees including the changeling queen, the god of chaos (twice), and a magic stealing demon.

Alterations

The cave used to be brightly lit with a simple pond encircling the back of the tree. When the blight tainted the water the cave became dark and the water became a thick grey pool from which twisted creatures are born.

Architecture

A simple stone cave with steps leading down from its entrance to the floor. The roof is high above and a small pond encircles the back half of the tree fed by an unseen natural spring.

History

Created by the Pillars of Hope the tree is over 1000 years old. Its gems, the Elements or Harmony, have been used time and again to save the empire and cement the two sisters as its rulers. When six new heroes discovered the elements hidden in an abandon castle they discovered they could wield them and did so for a number of years. When the tree began to die the gems were returned to it, saving the tree and its power. The tree would later create a new castle outside the forest it resided in, this became the home of the six new heroes and a symbol of the new power of the Equestrian empire. When the war began the six elements and their wielders were stolen taking Equestria's greatest weapons out of play before they could ever be used. Now a half-dead corrupted thing it is unknown if the tree can ever be restored.
