Veinedor Family Seal
After the Rise of Baronies that saw the king of Bosdelune overthrown, the collective barons each had an item comissioned that served as proof of their right to rule. For the Veinedor, this item was the family seal, an enchanted ring that would pass from baron to baron. It was a protective charm, both of the wearer's life and their purse, as the rich Veinedors had more than once been visited by misfortune in the form of thieves.
The seal was lost along with the life Baron Claudie Veinedor, last of her line. Rumors has that her spirit still wears is, jealously guarding it from anyone who would desire it.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
The magic of the seal is threefold. When the original Baron Veinedor comissioned it, he wanted the ring to not just be symbolic, but also have practical use. As a family that made their fortune of mining, especially of precious metals, he had it made so the wearer could sense nearby deposits of gold. As such riches made them targets for thieves, he had the ring protect items from theft. And as such thieves would eventually turn to robbery, he had the ring protect its wearer from ambushes.
Manufacturing process
A measured strip of gold was heated and then beaten into the shape of the ring. Afterwards, divine magic was slowly called upon to protect the wearer and their assets, woven in over several days.
History
After the rise of the baronies in Bosdelune in 95 AW, the baron of Veinedor commissioned the crafting of the seal. It stayed with the family until the War of Barons in 288 AW. The Veinedor family sided with the Sanglame family, when they declared the current baron of the Nuadereve family unfit to bear the titel of High Baron and thus claimed the titel for another decade. The devastating war that followed caused the baronies to collapse.
The seal was worn by Baron Claudie Veinedor when she defended her family castle against an attack by Baron Voken Saliona, a battle that claimed them both and led to an end of the rule of the baronies. It is presumed that the seal must still be somewhere in Castle Veinedor.
