ABOMINATION, or SCAR-MEMENTO 

         The Vortex transports people more often than non-talking beings, and non-talking beings more often than brute matter. Whatever captured by the Vortex it is always captured on Parallel Planets of Sharitarn, in Parallel Universes, and transported to Sharitarn.           Some of those Parallel Universes are very similar to Sharitarn in their laws of Physics and have no ostensible magic. Others have levels of magic equivalent to those of Sharitarn Universe, or higher. In each Universe magic and nature have behave as they do. In many cases the diferences are extreme, and whenever there is a difference the first contact of an kind of matter with Sharitarn Universe determines how that kind of matter from that particular Universe will behave on Sharitarn Universe. All times.           In almost all cases of shock between contrasting principles of reality the result brings no trauma for Sharitarn. In a small number of cases, "things go wrong". When that happens, the result is polluted Xar.              No one knows what causes those 'traumas', what went so wrong, but the consequence is called Xar-Scar. It varies from an area as large as a big house to territories that cover Continents and seas. There was occasions when almost all planet was taken by Xar-Scars for the better portion of one Age. One thing is certain about them, all Xar-Scars heal. May take centuries, may take thousands of years, and the healing is neither constant nor depends on the size of the Xar-Scar, but in all cases the Xar-Scar destiny is disappear.            While they exist, no magic is possible in their borders. With all their power even the Mage's Brotherhood cannot make the simplest spell inside the borders of a Xar-Scar. Living organisms that use magic in their metabolisms do not survive for long inside Xar-Scars, undeads change into dead corpses immediately, and so on. Everybody knows that.            Less people is aware of the fact that near the center of every Xar-Scar there is a crater, like the hearth of an explosion. One find some sort of fragment in the border of this crater and around it. The material varies greatly, metals in some case, small spongy rocks in others, crystals of salt sometimes, whatever it is, those fragments have extremely high anti-magic properties. They are excellent to create isolation against magic, and essential in the build of magic Universities and Mage Towers.            In the center of the crater you find the abomination.             Abominations are what entered the Universe of Sharitarn through the Vortex and caused the Xar-Scar. They are burned matter, that will glow for Ages after the Scar is healed in a dark coloured parten of Vortex Energy.               Is hard to work with that material, and it has to be done by mundane means since the substance is totally immune to magic. Some say that abominations eventually disappear in non-existence, healed like the Scar they created, others say that they start releasing huge quantities of the purest Xar you can find and after expend it they just became normal mundane matter. Is hard to know, because abomination is one of the rarest and most precious materials on Sharitarn Universe.                          A small coin made of it could buy you a hundred Long-Distance Ships, in any Main Market of Sharitarn. Mages absolutely love it, and almost every piece in the marked soon ends  in the hands of one Archimage or another.
