Correspondence of Connor Kudo

Connor Kudo, the near-sighted clerk at one of the several Naziar military offices, does not wish his courtship of a common merchant girl, a bookbinder of some talent, to be known by his father. Baron Kudo has strong feelings and ambitions about marrying his son upward in Alham  nobility. He is proud of his son's place as a military clerk -- it is not uncommon for Chrenadan nobility to put their sons and daughters into working positions before their inherit, to instill a sense of responsibility, understanding of financial management, and empathy for the workers they will command -- but he wishes for his grandson to have a position of even more honor.   Connor's letters to Ranne , like his visits, must therefore be disguised. He likes to tell his father (with much mock embarrassment) that he is visiting a whorehouse, which sadly his father finds more respectable than courting a merchant daughter. Connor also writes his letters as clumsy notes to prostitutes. His attempts at bawdy poetry are laughable, but efficient at deflecting suspicion, for who could suspect such a note of being anything but risible?   Connor's notes may be easily identified by their large writing. His eyes are weak for desk work, better suited for seeing across a room, and days of maintaining ledger entries leaves them weary and stinging. His personal letters are, therefore, scrawled in an almost-comedically large hand.   Due to his lineage and position, Connor Kudo holds the duty of compiling annual budgets and passing them to the generals for yearly approval. The project is massive, and the ledger lines tiny and cramped, and he is grateful to those merchants who quietly assist him so that he does not embarrass himself with late submissions.
